Officers from the Maritime Police Department of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force have been awarded with certificates on 3rd November 2016, following completion of an ‘In-Country Corrosion Prevention Course’. The week long course was conducted between 25th and 29th September 2016 at Aola Patrol Boat Base in Honiara.
The certificates were presented by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Operations, Madam Gwen Ratu, at the Aola base shortly after her muster with Maritime Police officers.

The Guadalcanal police have arrested and charged a man in his mid-30’s following the death of his pregnant wife at Kolona village, North/ South Guadalcanal on Tuesday morning.
Police alleged the deceased who is a 5-month old pregnant mother with five kids, was reported by one of the villagers, when he saw the deceased mother lying at her home on Tuesday evening.
Police was notified and immediately investigated the report which led to the arrest of the deceased husband at his resident.
Task Force Janus is a joint effort between the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and the Ministry of Finance & Treasury (MOFT).
The focus of the Task Force is to identify, apprehend and prosecute individuals involved in fraud and corruption within but not limited to the Solomon Island Public Service.
The Task Force is an intelligence led operation with MOFT and has identified a number of individuals suspected of corruption and abuse of their public office.
The five officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force who joined the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur, Sudan last month have settled into their duties in communities in North Darfur as they continue to make a mark on the UN policing mission.
Reports from the base at Darfur say that the RSIPF Officers have been actively involved in patrols to Internally Displaced People (IDP) Camps and villages, visitations to Government of Sudan (GoS) Police Stations and providing assistance in the safe delivery of humanitarian aid to identified communities.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Gabriel Manelusi presented on the new RSIPF Crime Prevention Strategy during a two-day workshop at Nagotano village in Central Islands Province (CIP) from 2 - 3 October 2016.
The workshop was organised by the Provincial Police Commander, Central Islands Province and other stake holders.
A total of 33 participants including men and women, chiefs, church leaders, youth leaders and Mothers Union leaders attended the workshop.
Deputy Premier, Central Islands Province, Hon. Selwyn Luga was also participate during the workshop.
With the theme of “Crime Prevention and Service Delivery”, the 2016 RSIPF Provincial Police Commanders and Directors conference is underway at the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI) base at GBR, east Honiara. It will be on from 10 – 14 October 2016.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI), Participating Police Force (PPF), have commemorated officers who have died in the line of duty at a service at the Guadalcanal Beach Resort (RAMSI base), East of Honiara on the 29th September 2016.
The ceremony began at nine o’clock with welcome remarks from Commander PPF John Tanti.
The RSIPF and PPF commenced the event with a march to the RAMSI Memorial Monument, followed by speeches and lying of the wreaths.
