The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and ‘Our Telekom’ Company have signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoU).
The MoUs will establish a broad non-legal binding framework to allow the RSIPF and Our Telekom to work in close partnership on a range of strategic projects and assist the parties to facilitate the lawful and efficient exchange of information in support of RSIPF investigations
On Sunday 22nd May 2016 at St. Alban’s Parish the Commissioner of Police Mr. Frank Prendergast Deputy Commissioner Operations Mr. Gabriel Manelusi and the Police Band Director Mr. James Maelanga did officially presented Certificates to forty seven (47) participants who attended a three months music training which was coordinated by the RSIPF Police Band Director.
Out of the forty seven participants who received the certificates ten (10) of them were from Starlina, in east of Honiara beyond Lunga.
Legislation for the alcohol testing of drivers or operators of vehicles has been gazetted and is now in force. The Police and Transport Legislation (Amendment) (Alcohol Testing) Act 2016 commenced operation on 1st June 2016.
The Act provides police with the power to require the driver or person in charge of a vehicle to submit to a breath test in accordance with the police officer’s direction. ‘Vehicles’ includes motor vehicles, vessels and aircraft.

A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Program was delivered to 26 Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Officers over a three (3) week period at Rove Police Academy in Honiara. The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is the qualification for working as a Trainer and Assessor.
The Human Resources (HR) Department within the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force and the police forces of several Pacific island countries will stand to benefit from a-one week training course held at the RAMSI base at GBR 29 February to 4 March 2016.Twenty Police HR officers from the RSIPF, and the police services of the Cook Islands, Kiribati and Tuvalu attended the training which focused on Human Resources Practice and Delivery and was delivered by a private consultant Mr Balbeer Singh of Prime Vision from Fiji.The training covered topics including HR Systems and Models, Ethical Practic
Traffic Officers from the Guadalcanal Provincial Police have responded to a fatal motor vehicle incident near Ruaniu area, North West Guadalcanal at approximately 9:00 am this morning. The vehicle is a yellow tanker with a white cabin is believed to have been driven by the deceased, a man in his 30’s from South Malaita.
The single occupant of the vehicle was the deceased.
Police investigation into the incident is continuing and police calls on members of the public who may have any relating information to come forward.
The HONIARA City Police raided a marijuana site at Burns Creek, East Honiara and uprooted more than 400 plants, with a street value estimated at $10,000 last Thursday 25 February.
The operation was successfully conducted, with the help and support of community members who were able to supply information on the location of the marijuana plants.
More than 50 police officers from five units at the Honiara police including the City Liquor Squad, frontline police officers, the Crime Responsive Unit (CRU) and Police Rapid Response Team (PRT).

announced that the Family Protection Advisory Council (FPAC) has agreed to a 1st April
2016 target date for gazettal of the Family Protection Act 2014.
The FPAC, chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Women, Youth and
Children’s Affairs, Ms Ethel Sigamanu made the decision at a recent meeting in Honiara.
The FPAC advises the Minister of Women, Youth and Children’s Affairs on the
implementation of the Act passed by National Parliament in 2014.
