Thousands of litres of Kwaso and dozens of Marijuana plants were confiscated on the 2nd January 2016 at Taba’a settlement village in Central Honiara during a police raid conducted by the Christmas and New Years’ Special Operations Team of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF).

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) held a parade and graduation for 70 new police officers who completed 18 weeks of training at the RSIPF academy today and will boost police numbers over the festive and New Year period.

The Recruit Course was held at the Rove Police Academy and will bring the total number of recruits joining the RSIPF this year to 110.

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence commenced on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and White Ribbon Day.On that day, events were held internationally and amongst them was an event at Monash University in Melbourne.

Members of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Fire and Rescue Service recently completed three weeks of intensive training and familiarisation in rope access and vertical rescue techniques, as part of ongoing Land Based Rescue training.

The training program was aimed at enhancing the RSIPF Fire and Rescue Service capability to include rescue from heights and depths.

The RSIPF is aware of an article published in the Island Sun on Tuesday 1 December 2015, titled ‘PM defies police advice on Skyline: Opposition’.The RSIPF is concerned that sensitive police documents have been released to the media and will conduct a full and thorough investigation into this matter.In addition, to correct the record, on Tuesday 29 September 2015 the Commissioner of Police did not meet with the Honourable Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare, as the Prime Minister was out of the country.

The RSIPF is currently investigating a robbery on the Bank of South Pacific branch, Auki, Malaita Province. The Robbery is believed to have occurred about 11.30 am on Friday 27 November 2015.

The robbery was allegedly conducted by 3 masked men, one of whom was armed. Auki Police responded to the robbery and confronted the three men.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) can confirm that it has responded to an armed robbery on the Bank of South Pacific in Auki this morning. We are currently searching for three men believed to be armed, who are alleged to be involved in the robbery during which an amount of money was stolen.

As this is a fluid operational situation we will not be making any further comment at this time. The RSIPF response is being supported by the RAMSI PPF.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) joined in the opening activities for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence Campaign, which commenced on 25 November 2015.The campaign is a global campaign dedicated to ending gender-based violence.  It runs each year from the 25 November ‘International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women’ until the 10 December, ‘Human Rights Day’.Activities commenced with a parade from the Honiara City Council to the Art Gallery Grounds.  A larger representation of RSIPF officers marched in the parade, which included the Commission

The re-furbished Police Post at White River in West Honiara was re-opened on Monday 23rd November 2015 at a ceremony which included the Commander of the Participating Police Force (PPF), Greg Harrigan, as the guest of Honour, the Commissioner of the RSIFP, Frank Prendergast, the Assistant Special Coordinator of RAMSI, Mr Masi Lomaloma, White River community and church leaders and members, members of the RSIPF and PPF and local community members.The old White River Police Post was run down and infested with white ants, which had damaged the roofing structure of the building.

Royal Solomon Islands Police Force Traffic officers had one of their quickest traffic arrests this morning, following a motor accident in front of the Rove Police Headquarters.
