EOD to conduct UXO operations in the Western Province

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department (EODD) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) will be conducting Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) operation in Western Province from 1 to 9 June 2024.

The operations will cover the following communities.
• Ringgi, Vila, Teme, Biubiu, Kuzi, Hunda, Jack Harbour and surrounding communities on Kolombagara Islands.
• Communities on Kohinggo island including Nimunimu, Mboemboe, Niumala and coastal areas.
• Munda, Noro and surrounding areas on New Georgia Island

Police arrest four suspects in relation to a killing incident in Honiara

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands (RSIPF) in Honiara have arrested four suspects in relation to the killing incident at Tanakake area at Panatina in East Honiara over the weekend.

Provincial police commander (PPC) Honiara city Chief Superintendent Jimson Robo says, “There was a fight broke out between young boys at Tanakake area where it was alleged that the deceased got stabbed by an object at the back of his head.”

RAPPP handed over PCLEC funded laptops to PSII in Honiara

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP) handed over two portable laptops to the Professional Standard Internal Investigation (PSII) Department at Central Police Station on 21 May 2024.

The handover occurred between AFP Advisors, alongside Director PSII Chief Superintendent Barry Rush Saukiu and PSII officers during a morning tea at the PSII conference room.

25-years-old male person charged for assault causing bodily harm in Malaita Province

Police in Auki Police Station have arrested and charged a 25-years-old male person for assault causing bodily harm contrary to section 245 of the penal code at Malaita Province recently.

Operation (Ops) Manager Malaita Provincial Police, Superintendent Michael Ramosaea says, “The incident took place at Suú village after an argument broke out between two male relatives. It is said that the suspect’s relatives disliked his wife.”

Police arrest a 26-year-old-male person in Malaita Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Auki Malaita Province have arrested a 26-year-old male person in relation to the death of a 10 month old baby who was murdered by his father last week in Malaita.

Operation (Ops) Manager Malaita Province Superintendent Michael Ramosaea says, “The suspect escaped after the incident and finally gave himself to police in Auki on 24 May 2024.”

Fourth CPLT deployment presented with certificate of appreciation and international law enforcement cooperation medal

The fourth China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) deployed in the country for about eight months were presented with certificates of appreciation letters and international law enforcement cooperation medals at Rove police headquarters today 27 May 2024.

Eleven CPLT officers will be leaving the country sometime tomorrow (29 May 2024) and a new deployment team is already in the country to continue with their mission in supporting the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF).

SIPSP welcomes new police advisors

The Solomon Island Police Support Program (SIPSP) has welcomed the arrival of three new SIPSP advisors from New Zealand (NZ).

The advisors arrived in the country this month and will be deployed as part of the SIPSP for a year.

The advisors will work alongside the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) colleagues in the Learning and Development (L&D) team and as part of the National Crime Prevention Department.

RSIPF farewell late PC Fakakesa

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have farewelled late Police Constable (PC) Fredrick Fakakesa during a sending out service at Saint Barnabas Cathedral on 23 May 2024.

During the send out service, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Operation Ms. Juanita Matanga said, “I am lost for words to describe the sadness that all of us have experienced at the news of the untimely passing of the late Fakakesa.”

RSIPF and SIAF engage with Naha communities

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and the Solomons’ International Assistance Force (SIAF) have engaged with Naha communities in sport activities at Naha community sport field on 18 May 2024.

The RSIPF National Community Policing Department, RSIPF Bomb Disposal Department and Fire Service Department were also part of the Community engagement program.

The event aimed to engage community members to interact with police and our security partners and educate them about the roles and responsibilities of the different units within the RSIPF.

Ten months old baby bashed to death in Malaita Province

A father bashed a ten months old baby to death at Mala Kwai village in Ata’a, North East Malaita on 20 May 2024.

Auki police received a report, which Atori police officers had attended to an infanticide case that occurred between 8am and 12pm on 20 May 2024.

Operation (Ops) Manager, Malaita Provincial Police, Superintendent Michael Ramosaea said, “The father bashed the ten months old baby to death after claiming that the child was not his.”
