Eight people arrest in relation to damage incident in South Malaita

Auki police have arrested eight suspects in relation to the damage incident that occurred in South Malaita between Walande and Bulu community.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mr. Juanita Matanga said arrests were made after a group from Walande teamed up, went to Bulu community and destroyed dwelling houses, church building and water source.

DC Matanga said a group of boys from Walande went over to Bulu but they have faced resistance by Bulu villagers. They went back to Walande and regrouped, armed with spears, knives and went over to Bulu village and attacked them.

40-years-old male person arrested for breaching nationwide liquor ban order in Makira-Ulawa Province

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers at Kirakira police station have arrested a 40-years old male person for breaching the nation-wide liquor ban order at Makira/Ulawa Province on 18 April 2024.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Juanita Matanga said the police have received a report that some youths (male) from Central Makira were drunk and causing nuisance in their communities.

Police urge Honiara drivers to be careful on the roads

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Traffic Department has intensified its traffic operations to ensure the safety of road users in Honiara, as election activity fills the streets.

An influx of people is expected in Honiara as people who travelled to the provinces to vote return.

Mixed reactions to election results can heighten the risk of road accidents, prompting the RSIPF Traffic Department to remind the public about the importance of responsible behaviour.

RSIPF farewell New Zealand Police advisors

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have farewelled three New Zealand (NZ) Police Solomon Islands Policing Programme (SIPSP) advisors on 22 April 2024 at Rove police headquarters.

The three departing New Zealand Police are Senior Advisors Peter Payne, Tracey Corkill and Dean Henderson. All have worked alongside the RSIPF for a year.

Advisors Payne and Corkill work alongside the RSIPF National Crime Prevention Department while advisor Henderson works alongside the RSIPF Learning and Development team in the RSIPF police academy at Rove.

Police is a neutrality organization

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is a neutral law enforcement organisation which is not politically affiliated.

RSIPF Commissioner Mr. Mostyn Mangau made this statement after some people say they don’t have trust and confidence in dealing with security on the election counting processes.

Commissioner Mangau said I would like to remind the general public of the organization’s neutrality during this election period. RSIPF is a discipline force and our main focus is on providing security on all counting stations throughout the country.

Investigation team on the ground to investigate election related issue in South Malaita

Investigation Team from the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) currently on the ground to investigate election related issues between Walande and Bulu community in South Maliata.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita, Superintendent Leslie Kili said a person has been arrested in relation to the matter and more to follow.

PPC Kili said I just want to make a correction regarding my previous statement that a group from Walande actually teamed up and went to Bulu community and destroyed dwelling houses, church building and water source.

Police call on social media users to stop inciting posts on Facebook

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) is calling on the social media users to stop inciting posts and sharing them on Facebook.

The RSIPF Commissioner Mr. Mangau made this call after certain people used fake Facebook accounts to post and share some hateful posts during the counting process.

Commissioner Mangau says do not resort to any means that will create violence among our people. Online users stop inciting violent posts. This is a crime whatever medium you use. Do not post online comments that encourage any crimes.

Police respond to a damage incident in South Malaita

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) on operation in Malaita have responded to a damage incident in South Malaita after a former Member of Parliament retain his seat.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita, Superintendent Leslie Kili said the initial report received this morning (21 April 2024) from Maka Police Station that men from the Bulu community attacked the Walande community.

PPC Kili said water source, church building and dwelling houses had been damaged during the attack.

A business man arrested for breaching liquor ban in Choiseul Province

A business man has been arrested for breaching the nation-wide liquor ban for the joint elections 2024 in Choiseul province today (19 April 2024).

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) on police operation in Taro for the joint elections have arrested the businessman and confiscated seventy-four cartons of beer after police received information from the community.

RSIPF will not allow any victory float parade

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) upon consultation with relevant authorities will take stern action against anyone who organises or participates in any float parade on our roads either in Honiara or the provinces or on our seas to celebrate any winning candidate in this year’s joint elections.

“We will not approve any requests from anyone who wants to organise any float parades in Honiara or in the provinces or at sea as the country will soon receive results,” says RSIPF Commissioner Mostyn Mangau.
