Police investigates death in Malaita Province

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers at Auki and Malu’u Police Station in Malaita Province are investigating the cause of death to a male who was found floating along the coast of his home village of Nuideli on 17th February 2025.

The 25-year-old deceased went fishing in his dugout canoe around 4pm on 17 February 2025.

Before his body was discovered around 7pm that same day, his canoe was first seen floating. His relatives noticed there was no one in the canoe so they conducted a search and the body was eventually found.

Police in Malaita arrest 19-yr-old kwaso seller

Royal Solomon Islands police Force (RSIPF) officers in Auki, Malaita Province, have arrested and charged a 19-year-old male person who allegedly sell homemade spirit (Kwaso) at his village.

Malaita Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Superintendent Michael Ramosaea confirmed police in Auki responded to a report of the suspect and his movements.

The suspect was about to board a public bus, with the illegal products, when police arrived and apprehend him.

RSIPF and community leaders discuss ways to improve frontline policing

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and community leaders representing Honiara communities convened a workshop to look at ways to strengthen and improve frontline policing.

The two-day ‘RSIPF Frontline Review Workshop’ was opened at the National Traffic Centre (Kukum) on 20th February 2025.

Over 20 RSIPF and RSIPF & Australian Federal Police (AFP) Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP) officers and around 15 community leaders attended the workshop.

Mindset Plus Training and Community Engagements reach Shortland Islands

The training and community visits in the Shortland Islands proved to be a valuable and insightful experience for both officers and the local communities.

With 15 officers participating in the training led by PC James Opa, of the National Crime Prevention Department, the focus was on developing high-performing teams and implementing effective crime prevention strategies.

RSIPF Welcomed 70 New Recruits

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has welcomed 70 new recruits to the force. The recruits were formally welcomed during a ceremony held at the RSIPF headquarters at Rove yesterday (24th February 2025).

RSIPF Commissioner, Mostyn Mangau, Australian Federal Police (AFP) Commander Solomon Islands, Heath Davies, the recruit course’s patron and Guest of Honour, Ms. Ruth Liloqula, RSIPF Senior Executive and members and RSIPF and AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP) Executive and Advisors, also participated in the ceremony.

Mindset Plus Training and Engagements in Taro

Police officers of the National Crime Prevention Department (NCPD) supported by the New Zealand police under the Solomon Islands Policing Support Programme (SIPSP) have successfully delivered Mindset Plus training and community engagements in Taro, Choiseul Province, recently.

A total of 21 RSIPF officers in Taro along with their Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Superintendent Berry Pogesopa completed the training and were awarded certificates of attainment.

RSIPF completes investigation training by CPLT

30 officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have completed a one-week criminal investigation course conducted by five investigation experts from the China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) in Honiara last week.

The training aims to enhance the professional skills and practical capabilities of participants and provides robust support to the RSIPF in addressing increasingly complex criminal activities.

RSIPF EOD Team successfully completes operation in Western Province

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department (EODD) team has successfully concluded a significant operation on Shortland Islands in the Western Province recently.

Supervising Director of the EODD, Senior Sergeant Peter Ririvere, said the team safely located and removed more than 70 unexploded ordnances (UXOs) that have posed a threat to local communities for many years.

Police remand two male persons for arson

Royal Solomon Islands Police (RSIPF) officers in Auki have remanded two male persons in their 20s for burning down a kitchen at Aoke Langlanga, Malaita province, on 9 February 2025.

Malaita Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Chief Superintendent Tex Tafoa, said the two suspects and the victim are related.

Witnesses confirm to police that the suspects and the victim have had a disagreement among their families regarding several issues for a few years now.
