Nine Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have graduated with level three plus on International Mine Action Standard (IMAS) on 2 June 2023.
The training was coordinated and facilitated by Australian Defense Force (ADF) with the support from the Australian High Commission in Solomon Islands to boost the EOD capabilities on dealing with unexploded ordnance (UXO) in the country.

The Maritime Department of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is now rearmed with Glock pistols as part of the rearmament program.
This is part of the stage limited rearmament of the RSIPF. Police Response Team (PRT) and Close Personal Protection (CPP) are already armed and now the Maritime is the third group within the RSIPF to be rearmed.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) National Security and Operation Support (NSOS) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) Mr Ian Vaevaso has acknowledged China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) for building RSIPF capacity and capability.
DC Vaevaso said that he is aware that partner CPLT and the People’s Republic of China (PRC) Ministry of Public Security are taking greater importance in building the capacity and capability of RSIPF to be an effective and capable police force that would serve the needs of its people.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) National Security and Operation Support (NSOS) Mr Ian Vaevaso encouraged the Police Response Team (PRT) to learn from China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) experts.
DC Vaevaso made this encouragement during an official opening program at Rove police headquarters on 26 May 2023.
“I am convinced that you are ready and committed to learn in the coming weeks. I encourage you to make use of this opportunity to learn from these experts and learn as much as possible,” Mr Vaevso said.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has received four firetrucks from the Fire and Rescue New South Wales (FRNSW), which will improve the RSIPF’s Fire and Rescue capability.
The RSIPF and Australian Federal Police (AFP) Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP) supported the delivery of these firetrucks. The firetrucks were airlift to Honiara from Australia on a Royal Australian Air Force by the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
Each firetruck is equipped with ladders, foam firefighting systems, 3000-litre water storage capacity and high-capacity water pumps.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and the Solomon Island Office of the Auditor General (OAG) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Office of the Auditor-General in Honiara on Friday May 19 2023.
The MoU sets out areas of cooperation including manners of referrals, follow ups, sharing of information and sharing of resources between the Auditor-General, Mr David Dennis, and the Commissioner of Police, Mr Mostyn Mangau.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested eight suspects allegedly planning to destroy major key infrastructures in Honiara.
Police brought in those suspects for questioning and few suspects have been remanded whilst others are released on strict bail conditions.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) National Security and Operation Support (NSOS) Mr Ian Vaevaso said those suspects are allegedly planning to sabotage or destroy some of the government national projects and critical infrastructures in Honiara.
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Kirakira are investigating a sudden death of a man in his 50’s after his body was found beside a dwelling house in Kirakira town on 9 May 2023.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira-Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai said it was alleged that a male person in his 50’s was initially found lying on the ground beside a dwelling house.
