Two officers from the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Police Response Department, Police Constables Patterson Podoloka and Faux Kalae, are among 22 police personnel from across the Pacific participating in the third cohort of the Pacific Police Support Group (PPSG) at the Pinkenba Hub in Brisbane, Australia.

Police have called off the search and rescue operation after the body was found at Henderson seaside this evening (28 January 2026).

Police received the report of the dead body, and they went to the scene and removed the dead body to the morgue, and later family members called in and identified the body as that of the late Ishmael Fiusilia.

Police have launched a search operation following a report of a missing person believed to have been washed away while attempting to cross the Lunga River near the Crusher Area.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Police Force (RSIPF) at Yandina, with the support from Auki police, have established an inquiry into three missing people at sea between Isabel and Russell Islands during the Christmas period last year.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) of Malaita Province, Superintendent Michael Ramosaea, said a banana boat and a 40-horse Yamaha engine in Auki are in police custody under police investigation.

Supervising PPC Ramosaea said it is confirmed that the 40-horsepower engine belongs to a couple who work at the Yandina clinic.

A man has died following a tragic weather-related incident in Noro, Western Province, on the afternoon of Tuesday, 27 January 2026.

Police say the incident occurred at around 2:00pm when a large tree collapsed onto a leaf-built residential dwelling during severe weather conditions affecting the area. The adult male occupant of the house sustained serious injuries as a result of the incident.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with the Civil Aviation Authority of Solomon Islands (CAASI) on 26 January 2026 at Rove police headquarters.

Director of CAASI Mr. Brian Halisanau and Acting Commissioner of RSIPF Mr. Mathias Lenialu sign the document in the presence of RSIPF executives to give clear responsibilities to both agencies.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has officially received upgraded facilities for its International Affairs Department (IAD) and Forensics analysis equipment from the Australian Federal Police (AFP).
The handover ceremony held in December 2025 included a formal signing by former RSIPF Commissioner Mostyn Mangau and AFP Deputy Commissioner Lesa Gale.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has commenced investigations into an incident involving the willful damage of machinery at Gold Ridge Mining Limited (GRML), which occurred on the night of 20 January 2026.

Police investigations are underway to identify and apprehend individuals responsible for the unlawful damage to company assets. An initial assessment of the incident is currently being conducted, and further updates will be provided as information becomes available.

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Western Province (WP) deployed the first batch of police officers to Keru in North New Georgia (NNG) in mid-December 2025.

The first police deployment came after the outgoing Police Commissioner, Mr. Mostyn Magau, and Permanent Secretary, Ms. Karren Galokale, visited the spiritual authority for allocating a hectare of land at Rovana Island to establish a police station.
