Eight firefighters from the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Fire and Rescue Services are now qualified to deal with chemical-related hazardous material incidents.
This is possible after they completed a Hazardous Material Response course at the Central Fire Station last week.

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) has denied that there is no referral of files from Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development (MID).
Deputy Commissioner (DC) National Security and Operation Support (NSOS) Mr Ian Vaevaso said there is no referrals as mention by PS MID.
DC Vaevaso said police only received complaints from individual’s constituents not as claimed that files were referred to by MID.

The Anti-Human Trafficking Advisory Committee (AHTAC) held its first quarterly meeting for this year 2023 in Honiara on 31 March 2023.
The meeting was chaired by Assistant Commissioner (AC) Crime and Intelligence Ms. Patricia Leta of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF).
In the first meeting, members had endorsed the AHTAC Communication Strategy. A communication tool for raising awareness for law enforcement, communities, frontline workers, public servants, and provincial governments to mitigate the risks of vulnerabilities on trafficking in person.
Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) and Immigration officers have refused a Finland Foreign National for entering Solomon Island (SI) –Papua New Guinea (PNG) border at Shortland Islands on 31 March 2023.
The Finland National entered through the PNG and Indonesia border and did inward clearance at Wutung, PNG Immigration border post on the 8 March 2023.
The person travelled to Port Moresby, boarded a domestic flight to Buka, and travelled to Buin, the Autonomous Region of Bougainville.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team will conduct a live demolition of bombs at Hells Point, in the Alligator Creek area East of Honiara on Wednesday 05 April 2023.
Officer In-charge (OIC) of EOD, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “The Hells Point Demolition Range in Central Guadalcanal will be active from 8am to 1pm (05 April 2023).”

Thirteen Close Protection Personal (CPP) Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have completed five weeks training at Rove Police Headquarters on 31 March 2023.
Director National Response Department (NRD) Chief Superintendent Francis Ramoni says, “This training course is to elevate the CPP unit to a standalone department in accordance with the recently approved NRD expansion plan.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) thank members of the general public and sport fans for good behaviour shown during the Solomon Games held in Honiara.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City, Chief Superintendent Jimson Robo says, “This was a big event involving RSIPF officers providing security during the game. I would like to thank members of the general public for the good behaviour shown during the duration of the whole tournament.”
Two members of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) attended an Observer Program with the Australian Federal Police (AFP), in Australia, where they experienced security planning and operations during a major event.
Superintendent Fred Suhara and Inspector Bryan Erekali have returned after 10 days in Canberra, and are now leading the RSIPF Pacific Games Planning Team in planning the security overlay that will be implemented during the Pacific Games in November 2023. The Solomons’ International Assistance Force (SIAF) is also working closely and supporting this Team.
