Police arrest a 22-year-old male suspect for damaging state property in Malaita Province

Police in Auki have arrested a 22-year-old male suspect for damaging a theodolite, a survey equipment used by surveyors working in Auki town on 18 October 2023.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Superintendent Leslie Kili says, “The survey equipment used by a land surveyor working in Auki was destroyed when the suspect suddenly showed up angry and allegedly kicked the machine causing it to fall onto the ground and broke into pieces.”

PPC Kili says, “The equipment is an expensive item that cost the government more than 100 thousand plus dollars.”

RSIPF warns communities of bomb blasting at Alligator Creek

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team will conduct a live demolition of bombs at Hells Point, in the Alligator Creek area East of Honiara on Wednesday 25 October 2023.

Officer In-charge (OIC) of EOD, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “The Hells Point Demolition Range in Central Guadalcanal will be active from 8am to 1pm (25 October 2023).”

Two suspects arrested for wounding incident in Central Province

Tulagi police have arrested two male suspects following an unlawful wounding incident at Gairavu Village in Central Province on 14 October 2023.

The arrest was done after two suspects allegedly used cocoa hook and struck the victim three times during a community fundraising event. The motive behind the assault is still under investigation.

Three hundred plus vehicles checked during traffic operation over the weekend

Police have checked 380 vehicles during traffic operations over the weekend as part of the preparation for the Pacific Games 2023 (PG23).

Director National Traffic Department (NTD) Superintendent William Foufaka said during the traffic check 22 vehicles have been impounded for prosecution and 21 suspects arrested.

Director Foufaka said from those arrests, 10 suspects were arrested for the presence of alcohol in their blood. 11 suspects were arrested for driving unlicensed motor vehicles and a suspect arrested for driving without a valid driver’s license.

CPLT handover solar lights to NTD

China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) handed over sets of solar lights to National Traffic Department of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) on 17 October 2023 at Kukum traffic office.

The handing over of the solar lights, briefcases, stationery and sporting T-Shirt were to equip and support the traffic officers as part of preparation for the Pacific Games 2023 (PG23).

Traffic officers engage on ‘bonding and fitness’ in preparations for Pacific Games

National Traffic Department (NTD) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF)) has commenced a weekly outdoor program aimed at bonding Traffic officers and improving their fitness levels.

Once a week, Traffic officers take time off their work to spend few hours in the field where they can meet and play ball games and do exercises.

NTD Director, Supt. William Foufaka, during the commencement of their program said the program was initiated to bond traffic officers and to help improve their fitness.

About 500 plus UXOs safely remove and ready for destruction in Western Province

About five hundred plus different Unexploded Ordnance (UXOs) have been removed and ready to destroy in a latest operation conducted in Western Province

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) safely removed those UXOs to a safer location and will destroy it later.

RSIPF Commissioner Mr. Mostyn Mangau says, “The operation was conducted in response to calls from the communities reporting UXO’s in the province over the past two months and the EOD team safely removed over 500 UXO’s that were endangering the communities.”

RSIPF Farewell SIPSP Senior Advisor

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) yesterday (11 October 2023) have farewelled a Solomon Islands Police Support Program (SIPSP) senior advisor after serving with the Program for one year.

RSIPF Assistant Commissioner (AC) National Capital and Crime Prevention (NCCP) Mr. Simpson Pogeava acknowledged and greatly appreciated her for the service rendered while with the program in Solomon Islands.

Police raid a bottle shop at Kukum as part of preventative measures in preparation for the PG23

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) raided a bottle shop in the Kukum area as part of preventative measures in preparation for the Pacific Games 2023.

Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau during his weekly press conference said, “Hundred plus cartons of beer had been confiscated during the raid. Central Response Unit (CRU) at Central Police Station (CPS) raided the bottle shop with a tip of information from the public in the early hours on 1 October 2023.”

Police investigate hit and run incident at the main road opposite SINIS office in Honiara

The National Traffic Department (NTD) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) are investigating a hit and run incident opposite the Solomon Island National Institute of Sport early in the morning on 29 September 2023.

Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau during his weekly press conference said, “An unidentified vehicle driving in easterly direction hit a woman who unfortunately died on the spot. The hit and run occurred around 4 and 5am early in the morning which claimed the life of an adult woman who was part Western and Choiseul province.”
