Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers attended a sexual offence training at the Rove Academy last Friday.

RSIPF’s Assistant Commissioner for Crime and Intelligence, Patricia Leta, opened the one-day ‘Specialist Investigation – Sexual Offences’ training.

Advisers from the Australian Federal Police (AFP) were pleased to support and facilitate the training which was conducted by staff of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP).

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) has launched an investigation into an incident, which occurred at the commemoration ceremony of the 80th Anniversary of the battle on Guadalcanal at bloody ridge on Monday 8 August.

The incident involved a local attacking a Japanese military man with a pair of scissors. The Japanese, who is the media person for the Japanese delegation to the commemoration, sustained minor injury as a result.

The attacker was arrested on the spot after the attack and is now in police custody.

Sexual Assault Squad (SAS) under the Office of the National Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) have arrested and charged an adult male person for sexual assault incident in Honiara on 3 August 2022.

The arrest and charge done after the alleged suspect sexually assaulted a female victim on 17 October 2021.

Director NCID, Superintendent Michael Bole said the matter had been reported to the SAS office last year and investigation was completed.

Commissioner Mnagau said the report on the paper on the alleged arrest of the two government ministers and a top official to face an arrest within days which is published on the paper is not true and totally misleading.

Deputy Team Leader (DTL), also Chief Instructor of China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) Mr Yin Wei has highlighted that it is better to teach a man to fish than to give him a fish.

The Chief Instructor was referring to a saying in China which reflects it in the context of training provided by CPLT to the officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) for the past months, he mentioned this when speaking at a farewell dinner in Honiara on Sunday 31July 2022.

Acting Commander of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF)-Australian Federal Police (AFP) Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP), Heath Davies, handed over six new vehicles to the RSIPF to support its frontline policing operations.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Police National Security and Correctional Services (MPNSCS), Ms Karen Galokale, and the RSIPF Commissioner, Mostyn Mangau, received the vehicles during a brief handover ceremony held at the at Rove Police Headquarters today (29th July 2022).
