The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) held a farewell ceremony at Rove police headquarters on 13 May 2025 for six China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) members who deployed to the Solomon Islands (SI).

During the ceremony, supervising Commissioner Mr. Vaevaso said your sacrifices, dedication and commitment have wasted but have brought the RSIPF this far in terms of capacity and capability developments, which was very evident that we can enjoy the long-lasting peace and stability in these Solomon Islands (SI).

Guadalcanal Police have arrested three brothers for the alleged murder of their cousin brother at the Lunga area in Guadalcanal Province on 12 May 2025.

The initial murder incident occurred on 10 May 2025, when the trio assaulted their 23-year-old cousin brother after a heated argument over the use of abusive words uttered by the deceased.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province Chief Superintendent Rodney Kuma said it was alleged that one of the brothers kicked the deceased on his right rib during the argument.

Auki police have arrested three male persons for a break-in incident at Aenarii village in northeast Malaita on 9 May 2025.

The break-in incident occurred on 7 May 2025, where the suspects removed properties valued at about $21,000.00.

Operation Manager for Malaita Province, Superintendent Michael Ramosaea, said the suspects are between 20 and 30 years old. The suspects have been arrested, but the properties are yet to be recovered.

Auki police arrested a 25-year-old male person with a basket containing dried marijuana last week (7 May 2025) in Auki, Malaita Province.

Operation Manager, Malaita Province, Superintendent Michael Ramosaea said police officers were on foot patrol when they saw the suspect drinking kwaso (homebrew) beside a shop in Auki town with the traditional basket.

Operation Manager Superintendent Ramosaea said the suspect was carrying a big traditional basket; upon search, officers found bundles of dried marijuana in the basket.

Over the last six months, RSIPF officers have been attending local schools to inform students, parents, and teachers about improving personal safety.

The “Be Aware! Take Care!” program is a framework designed to equip local children with confidence and awareness of their environment.

It encourages students to be observant and identify potential dangers while instilling a sense of security by providing them with the knowledge and strategies to avoid unsafe situations and recognise warning signs.

A joint operation between Auki, Atori, and Atoifi police has successfully concluded with the arrest of a 35-year-old male suspect at Uru Harbor near Atoifi in east Kwaio, Malaita province.

The suspect was arrested and charged on 13 May 2025 after they confiscated a large amount of homebrew during the raid at his home village.

The church and women leaders within the communities were impressed with the police for the arrest.

Police officers from Taskforce Janus today (14 May 2025) rearrested the former Permanent Secretary (PS) of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development (MID), Mr. Henry Murray, and returned him to Rove Correctional Facility for his 4-year imprisonment.

Mr. Murray was arrested in 2018 by police officers from Taskforce Janus on multiple official corruption charges, which total up to over a million dollars.

Between 2014 and 2017, Mr. Murray and his wife operated a company called Krash Transport and Marketing, which corruptly received payments from the MID.

Buala police have seized a box containing marijuana drugs addressed to Haevo Port in Isabel Province.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Isabel Province, Inspector Harry Poutz Vanosi, said Buala police officers were on routine mobile patrol when they encountered the matter.

PPC Vanosi said the team arrived at Haevo port when an adult male person approached them and handed them the box containing marijuana.

Taro police have conducted awareness talks at Pagobiru School and Polo Village in Choiseul Province recently.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Choiseul Province Superintendent Berry Pogesopa said the community policing team conducted awareness talks at Pagobiru School and later gifted them with sporting items.

PPC Pogesopa said, “Illegal alcohol and drugs, family violence, issues affecting youths, resources and environment, and emerging issues are some of the topics delivered during the awareness talk.”

The Police Response Department (PRD) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police (RSIPF) killed two crocodiles during a seven-day operation at Hagalu and Tokyo Bay in Central Province recently.

Team Leader (TL) Police Constable (PC) David Liva said they have caught two crocodiles about 3 meters in length at Hagalu Bay and a 2.5-meter crocodile at Tokyo Bay.

PRD Director Superintendent Lionel Kapisa said if your community has encountered a crocodile threat, you would have to call in at your nearest police station and fill the crocodile destruction form.”
