Police arrest large numbers over logging dispute on Rendova

The Office of the Commissioner of Police confirms that over the last week police conducted a major operation on Rendova Island, in response to a long standing logging dispute.

The police received reports of criminal offences committed and worked tirelessly to negotiate a peaceful outcome.

When negotiations failed, police arrested a large number of persons for numerous offences relating to attacks against the Vasara Logging Camp.

The persons arrested will be placed before the court as soon as practicable.

Police remind Solomon Islanders to always solve disputes by dialogue and not with criminal behaviour.
