Tulagi police have arrested a catechist at the Bola community in Central Province for disturbance during Easter weekend recently.

It was alleged that the catechist disturbed, threatened, and assaulted and used abusive words during the program while the Bola community gathered for their program.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province Superintendent David Soakai said the suspect has been disturbing the church service in the community, which leads to the cancellation of the church program.

PPC Soakai said the suspect even assaulted a Crime Prevention Committee (CPC) member who was trying to calm him down during the incident.

Mr. Soakai said the suspect threatened a family regarding a land issue and used abusive words towards the people in the community.

Tulagi police attended to the report and arrested the suspect, who was later dealt with while under police custody.

He was released on bail conditions and will appear in court on 28th July 2025.
