RSIPF formally welcome new RAPPP Commander
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has formally welcomed the new Commander for the RSIPF & Australian Federal Police (AFP) Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP), Commander Hall O’Meagher.
Commander O’Meagher will replace Commander Heath Davies who will complete his deployment under RAPPP in mid-2025.
Commander O’Meagher is currently in Honiara on a month visit to familiarise himself with the new environment that he will be working under for couple of years.
During this visit, Commander O’Meagher will meet with RSIPF executive and officers, and receive handover briefings to fully understand his role and work with RAPPP.
In a formal welcome ceremony, RSIPF Commissioner, Mostyn Mangau, welcomed Commander O’Meagher and encouraged him to treat Solomon Islands as his second home.
Commander Mangau said his executive is prepared to support Commander O’Meagher as they work to address some of the policing challenges in country.
In response, Commander O’Meagher said he is pleased to finally be in the Solomon Islands. He said he looks forward to working closely with the RSIPF and growing his network here.
Commander O’Meagher will return to Australia next month and by mid-2025, will return to Honiara to officially commence in the role.
He said his deployment to the Solomon Islands means there will be adjustments to his and his family’s personal lives, but adjustments that they look forward to adapting to.
Commander O’Meagher joined the AFP in 2000 and has a wealth of knowledge and experience in investigations. He has completed countless training in various areas relating to policing and police roles.
Commander O’Meagher will oversees RAPPP programs and activities in the Solomon Islands in support of the RSIPF. RAPPP engage sworn and unsworn AFP officers and over 30 locals to implement its programs and activities.
