Police arrest three brothers for a murder incident in the Lunga area in Guadalcanal province

Guadalcanal Police have arrested three brothers for the alleged murder of their cousin brother at the Lunga area in Guadalcanal Province on 12 May 2025.

The initial murder incident occurred on 10 May 2025, when the trio assaulted their 23-year-old cousin brother after a heated argument over the use of abusive words uttered by the deceased.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province Chief Superintendent Rodney Kuma said it was alleged that one of the brothers kicked the deceased on his right rib during the argument.

Chief Superintendent Kuma said when the deceased fell off, his other two brothers helped to assault the deceased several times.

PPC Kuma said after the incident, the deceased was transported to National Referral Hospital (NRH) and pronounced dead by the medical authorities.

Mr. Kuma said the three trio are currently remanded at Rove Correctional Facility after their remand application was granted by Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court.

He said the investigation into the murder incident is ongoing and appealed to the good people in and around the Lunga area who witnessed the incident to come forward and assist police with more information regarding the murder.

“I appeal to the parties involved in this matter to remain calm while police deal with the issue. Do not take the laws into your own hand. Let the police handle the situation,” said PPC Kuma.

The provincial police chief shares his condolences with friends and immediate family members of the deceased for the loss of their loved one.
