Naha seals beat CPS alpha team in the netball tournament final match
Naha Seals beat Central Police Station (CPS) Alpha Team during a three-day inter-police station netball tournament at Rove police headquarters recently.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has successfully held the netball tournament across three days in the months of April and May 2025.
The tournament engaged female officers through health, fitness, and sport. Police stations that participate are Henderson, Kukum, Naha, CPS, Rove police headquarters, and White River Police, with a total of 10 teams with 70 players competing.
Many others attended to cheer from the sidelines, including Assistant Commissioner (AC) Crime and Intelligence Ms. Patricia Leta, who was previously a keen netball player. She offered encouragement throughout the tournament and was a supporter of this initiative.
The tournament is evidence of the RSIPF’s dedication to building support for the well-being and sense of community within its female officers.
Assistant Commissioner (AC) of National Capital and Crime Prevention (NCCP) Mr. Simpson Pogeava, who is the RSIPF Police Netball Club Executive, opened the tournament on 26 April 2025.
In his opening remarks, AC Pogeava said the tournament is an opportunity to bring female police officers together through health and fitness in a friendly social environment.
“Many of the female officers had never played together before, and this tournament builds a sense of unity with those they work alongside every day,” said Mr. Pogeava.
He said RSIPF health and well-being is very important, and friendly tournaments like this support our officers to keep healthy and fit but also build discipline and hard work, which they use as part of their daily job.
The AC NCCP also thanked the Australian Federal Police (AFP) RSIPF Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP) for their continuous support in delivering initiatives to support the health and well-being of RSIPF officers.
The RAPPP supported the tournament by providing netballs for teams to practice, sneakers to females to support their participation in the event, and prizes for participants and umpires.
Outstanding players from the tournament will be invited to form the RSIPF Netball team to register for the Honiara Netball Association Competition.
