Naha police conducting an inquiry into a foreign national suicide incident in Honiara

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Naha police station are conducting an inquiry into a Sri Lankan foreign national who committed suicide at the Top Timber area in east Honiara on 31 May 2025.

Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Naha police station, Superintendent Leslie Kili, said the deceased and his wife worked for the Top timber company.

OCS Kili said that on that same evening, his wife finished work at the Top Timber seaside area and called her husband’s phone so that he could pick her up, but he did not answer. She went to his office to find him.

Superintendent Kili said when she arrived, one of the deceased relatives was also looking for him, and the relative asked their security guard if he had seen him, but he denied seeing him around.

Mr. Kili said they searched around the Top Timber area and

found the deceased locked him in the warehouse, and he hanged himself with a piece of rope.

The deceased was transported to the National Referral Hospital morgue while police conducted an inquiry into the suicide incident.
