The National Crime Prevention Department (NCPD) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) and Chinese Police Liaison Team (CPLT) have conducted a community engagement program at Tasahe B in west Honiara on 1 June 2025.

The awareness program with the theme ‘Technology and Culture,’ an engagement event incentive on community safety governance that has an innovative form, practical measures, and a friendly exchange between China and Solomon Island (SI).

The technological elements and traditional culture complemented each other with numerous highlights.

The opening of the program was a drone flight performance, with bright flags representing the police cooperation between China and SI flying over the community.

As the drones glided steadily and the flags fluttered in the wind, it demonstrated power through technological means, attracting many residents to stop and watch.

This is not only demonstrating China's advanced technological level but also symbolizes the friendship between the two countries in the blue sky.

The CPLT also conducted Chinese Kungfu, which brought the atmosphere of the event to a climax. As they swung their fists and feet, they fully demonstrated the charm of Chinese kung fu. The smooth and fluid boxing skills won rounds of applause and cheers from the audience.

Many residents were touched by the charm of martial arts and followed the team members to interact and experience learning simple moves, feeling the profound heritage of Chinese traditional culture in each move.

During the experience-sharing session, members of CPLT delivered speeches on the theme of building safe communities.

From the harmonious family environment on personal growth to the significant role of neighbourhood mutual assistance in maintaining community security, from the policy measures for building safe communities in China to the successful cases in actual work, with simple and understandable language and a sincere and earnest attitude, it provides the ‘Fengqiao Experience’ of China for local community governance.

NCPD officers talked on the five drivers of crime: alcohol and drugs, family violence, issues affecting youth, resources, and emerging issues.

CPLT made donations of sports equipment, practical clothes, sewing machines, and other supplies to the local residents.
