Members from the various Solomon Islands Government (SIG) law enforcement agencies, such as the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and Immigration and National Security Strategies, attended a two-day workshop on Border Operations in Honiara.
A two-day workshop on border operation facilitated by two officials from INTERPOL who are attached to the Project Blue Pacific Team started on 14 and concluded on 15 July 2025.
Acting Director of RSIPF International Affairs, Inspector Michael Aluvolomo, said the objective of this workshop is to share knowledge and foster cooperation between our different SIG agencies in preparation for the Pacific Island Forum (PIF) in September 2025.
Acting Director Aluvolomo said this will help improve communication, collaboration, and understanding across SIG organizations.
Director Aluvolomo said
the workshop provides awareness to other SIG departments of the INTERPOL capabilities that can be accessed to enhance our nation’s security and strengthen the safety at our border in the lead-up to the PIF event.
Mr. Aluvolomo said INTERPOL Project Blue Pacific aims to bolster Pacific law enforcement's response to transnational organized crime, specifically through enhanced information sharing across the Pacific region.
The workshop was officially opened by Supervising Assistant Commissioner (AC), Crime and Intelligence, Mr. Rodney Wheatney.
