Police urge public to respect officers and government vehicles during duties

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is urging members of the public to show respect for police officers and government vehicles when carrying out their duties.

The call comes in response to a recent incident where officers have faced unnecessary verbal abuse and rocks being thrown at the government vehicles while responding to an overloaded vehicle around the Tandai area during the recent zero tolerance operation.

We want to remind the public that police officers are here to serve and protect life and property. Obstructing officers during duty is an offense, and one can be arrested for it.

Police are once again calling on the public to refrain from obstructing officers on duty along the road or in a moving vehicle.

Respect police and public service vehicles, as we are all working to achieve a safer society or community for all.

Police will remain committed to building trust and strengthening community partnerships in line with the continuous operations that are set to run every weekend to curb crimes in our communities.
