A 27-year-old male suspect arrested for an alleged sexual abuse of a child under 15-year-old

Gizo police have arrested a 27-year-old male suspect for allegedly engaging sexual relations with his 13-year-old relative at Ranogga Island in Western Province.

The alleged incident occurred in August 2024, when the suspect reportedly threatened the victim on several occasions and ultimately committed the alleged offence.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Superintendent Wilken Miriki, says, “The victim kept to herself the ordeal she has encountered due to repeated death threats made by the suspect.”

“The incident was reported to police after the victim revealed the matter to her aunty earlier last month following a recent attempt by the suspect to sexually abuse her again.”
