On patrol – New uniforms and radios bolsters RSIPF national pride
RSIPF Commissioner and AFP Commander Solomon Islands
The Australian Federal Police (AFP) today has gifted a significant number of police uniforms and communications equipment to the RSIPF through the RSIPF and AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP).
The new uniform, including duty boots, stryke pants and police shirts will support RSIPF officers in presenting a professional and confident image as they carry out frontline duties and represent the Solomon Islands during major events such as the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF). The radios will enhance operational capability, boosting communication and coordination between officers in the field.
AFP Commander Hall O’Meagher said the contributions reflected the AFP’s commitment to supporting both the professionalism and effectiveness of the RSIPF.
Commander O’Meagher said, “Uniforms and radios make a real difference to how officers serve their communities. The uniforms represent authority, pride, and professionalism, while the radios strengthen communication and safety in the field.”
“Together, they ensure the RSIPF is well-prepared for the upcoming Pacific Islands Forum and for the daily demands of policing across the Solomon Islands,” said O’Meagher.
RSIPF Commissioner Mr.Mostyn Mangau welcomed the Support, highlighting its direct benefit to officers and the communities they serve.
Commissioner Mangau said,
We are grateful for this timely support from the AFP through RAPPP,” Commissioner Mangau said.
"The Uniforms will instill pride and confidence in our officers, while the radios will improve coordination and response capabilities. These gifts will help us better serve our communities and ensure the security of major events such as the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting.”
The gifting of uniforms and radios builds on years of close cooperation between the RSIPF and AFP through RAPPP, which has included operational support, training, and the provision of specialist equipment. The partnership continues to play a vital role in promoting stability and resilience in the Solomon Islands and across the Pacific region.
