The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has organized a question and answer (Q and A) session for intended applicants who wish to apply for the Police Response Department (PRD) direct recruitment at Rove police headquarters on 15 September 2025.
The information session provides an opportunity for the RSIPF Human Resources (HR) Team and PRD to clarify doubts on the recruitment process and the next step into the PRD basic course.
This is an opportunity for candidates to ask questions to clear their doubts. There were a number of good questions asked during the information session, and about 400 interested candidates turned up for the session.
Director of RSIPF Human Resources (HR) Inspector Samuel Luqara said, “The recruitment will be just a normal RSIPF recruitment, for all candidates will go through HR to lodge their application. A screening will be done by a panel set up to do the screening on applicants.
Director of RSIPF HR Mr. Luqara said, “The next phase will be the fitness test, followed by the exam. Successful applicants who will make it to the next phase will go through the interview phase; the panel interview will be set up. Those who passed the interview will be placed into successful poll.”
Inspector Luqara said, “The first 75 candidates will go through the RSIPF 16-week recruit course at the RSIPF Police Academy. Once they graduate, they will have a week off and prepare to undertake the PRD gateways for the PRD basic course.”
Director PRD, Superintendent Lionel Kapisa, said, “The first phase of the PRD gateways will be the barrier testing, which consists of seven activities. The next phase is successful candidates who passed the barrier testing will go through a two-and-a-half-day assessment; there will be activities and scenarios conducted within these two days.
Director PRD said,
“Participants will be tested for their fitness, teamwork, leadership, the ability to lead a team, the ability to organize team members, and the ability to listen and take orders from instructors.”
Superintendent Kapisa said, “There is a system of scoring in place designed to measure candidates on their performance from day one until the completion of the two-and-a-half-day assessments.
He said, “Once completed, the scoring system will automatically put the high performers at the top with low performers at the bottom. PRD will pick those who met all criteria to undertake the PRD basic course, which will run for 13 weeks.”
