A police officer who had an accident with a police-marked vehicle was suspended on half pay
An officer of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the National Traffic Department (NTD) who had an accident with a police-marked vehicle was suspended under half pay.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Operations Mr. Mathias Lenialu said the suspension came after the matter had been referred to the Commissioner of the RSIPF, and he was suspended on half pay.
DC Lenialau said the decision is very crystal clear that even a police officer is not above the law. RSIPF is making sure that its officers comply with its governance on RSIPF vehicle policy and the law of our country.
“It was alleged that the police officer who works under NTD was under the influence of liquor and drove the police-marked vehicle without permission from his superior,” said DC Lenialu.
The accident occurred further up from the Sape clinic at the Guadalcanal Plain Palm Oil Limited (GPPOL I) area in north Guadalcanal early in the morning on 23 November 2025.
Mr. Lenialu said the officer will have to face a fair trial for his action. The right action at the moment is to deal with the officer so that he faces a fair trial before the court.
