The outgoing Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mostyn Mangau, during his farewell parade at Rove police headquarters today (31 December 2025), encouraged the new Acting Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mathias Lenialu, to lead with fairness and wisdom.
Outgoing Commissioner Mangau said the challenges ahead are real, but so too are the opportunities to build a stronger, more resilient police force. As I pass forward this responsibility, I do it with deep appreciation for the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) mission and transformational journey.
Commissioner Mangau said the Acting Commissioner inherits not only the responsibility of command but also the hopes of our people for peace, security, and justice.
“I recalled the words of my predecessor that leadership is about continuity and service, not personal glory. Today I stand before you as the outgoing Commissioner of RSIPF to echo that same sentiment,” said Mangau.
The outgoing police chief said over the past years, RSIPF has matured as a trusted guardian of public safety and legitimacy, anchored in strategic direction and a clear vision.
He said, "Now, as I prepare to hand over responsibility to the Acting Commissioner of RSIPF, I look back with gratitude and pride at what we have accomplished together as a team."
