Auki Police Arrest 64-Year-Old for Selling Liquor Without License

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Auki Police Operations Team has arrested a 64-year-old man for selling liquor without an approved license.

The illegal beer outlet, located in the Oio Via, Wairokai, in West Arearea, was reported by the community for contributing to antisocial behavior and other criminal activities.

Acting on these complaints, RSIPF Auki Police arrested the suspect on 2nd February 2026.

The suspect, a former member of the Provincial Assembly, has been charged with prohibition of unauthorized sales of liquor contrary to Section 57 of the Liquor Act. During the operation, 12 cartons of beer were confiscated.

The suspect was released on principal bail and is scheduled to appear before the Malaita Principal Magistrate at Afio on 23 March 2026.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita praised the officers involved for their dedication and professionalism and expressed appreciation to the community leaders of Wairokai for their support.

He urged all community leaders to report criminal activities to the police promptly and ensure proper statements are provided to build strong cases.

PPC Malaita also appealed to the public to refrain from engaging in illegal activities and to respect the law, emphasizing that RSIPF is committed to maintaining law and order in communities across Malaita Province.

The action was well-received by local residents, who appreciated RSIPF Auki Police for addressing concerns and promoting safer communities.
