Police warn a number of people for drinking beer in a public place during operation anti-social behaviour
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have been warning a number of people who drink beer in a public place over the past weekends during operation anti-social behaviour, but the practice is still ongoing.
During the operation, anti-social behaviour police even conduct some arrests, but the attitude of drunkards holding an open can of beer after they came out from the nightclub and pubs does not change.
Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City Police, Superintendent Mark Buga says officers on operation warned a good number of people and advised them not to hold on to an open can of beer in a public place, which is an offence.
PPC Buga says some of those people police warned and arrested were working-class people, which is not a good example in our communities.
Honiara City Police boss Mr Buga said the sad thing is that when police officers warn some drunkards, they turn back to police officers and use abusive words at them.
Superintendent Buga says officers of the crown deserve some respect when they execute their duties. Officers work 24/7 days a week under challenging situations to protect us from dangers. So, it is good to respect them.
