Two suspects arrested during a police raid in Honiara

Two suspects have been arrested during a raid at the Vara Creek area in Central Honiara on 19 August 2026.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Central Police Station (CPS) raid the kwaso (homebrew), confiscate distillation equipment, and arrest the two suspects.

The two suspects were caught at the scene while actively engaged in the illegal brewing of kwasso. The two suspects are currently in police custody and are awaiting further dealings with the police.

Police will continue to enforce the law in communities in and around Honiara regarding the illegal brewing, selling and consuming of kwaso.

Police will continue to target specific locations where information about illegal brewing activities is received. This is part of ongoing efforts by police to curb crime and other illegal activities within our communities.

Police acknowledge and appreciate the assistance and support provided by members of the community, whose information contributed to the success of this operation.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) of Honiara City, Superintendent Leslie Kili, commended the officers involved for a job well done in helping to keep communities safe from crime and illegal activities.

PPC Kili encourages communities to continue working together and supporting one another in the fight against crime. Maintaining safe and peaceful communities is everyone’s responsibility, and police cannot do it alone.
