RSIPF Women Leaders Represent Solomon Islands at Global Policing Conference

Three women officers from the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) joined more than 450 female police officers and delegates from 43 countries at the 63rd International Association of Women Police (IAWP) Annual Training Conference in Bali, Indonesia, from 20 to 24 September 2026.

Held at the Westin Resort Nusa Dua under the theme Women Leading Global Change, the conference brought together women in law enforcement from around the world to strengthen leadership, share experiences and explore current policing challenges and solutions.

The conference featured keynote presentations, workshops and panel discussions across seven key areas: leadership development, community confidence, technology and innovation, serious and complex crime, effective policing, officer safety and wellbeing, and international collaboration.

For the RSIPF officers, the event provided valuable opportunities to learn from internationally recognised policing leaders, exchange ideas with counterparts from around the world and build professional networks that support ongoing development within the organisation.

The RSIPF delegation represented a diverse range of policing perspectives, including operational policing, strategy, leadership and provincial policing. In addition to attending conference sessions and workshops, the officers proudly represented Solomon Islands in the Parade of Nations alongside delegates from 43 countries, highlighting the value of international partnerships and collaboration in policing.

Reflecting on the experience, RSIPF Inspector Florence Wasi said, "Participating in the Parade of Nations was a proud moment and a highlight of the conference. Representing Solomon Islands alongside women police officers from 43 countries reinforced the value of international partnerships and knowledge sharing."

Inspector Wasi said the conference also provided practical insights that could be applied within the Solomon Islands context. The conference provided practical insights into current policing challenges and exposed us to innovative approaches being used by police services globally. I look forward to sharing these lessons with my colleagues and exploring how they can be adapted to strengthen policing in Solomon Islands.

The officers will share key lessons from the conference with colleagues across the RSIPF, helping to strengthen leadership development, support women in policing and support the ongoing development of the RSIPF.

The officers’ participation was supported by the Australian Government through the RSIPF and Australian Federal Police Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP), as part of the partnership’s ongoing support for professional development and women in policing.
