Police clarify speculation on police arrests and kill three people at Burns Creek

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF would like to clarify rumours and speculation that three suspects arrested by police at Burns Creek area were brutally killed to death.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ms Juanita Matanga says, “This is false and wrong information that we should not speculate about. Do not try to use such information to gain people’s attention to do more bad activities against the police.”

DC Matanga says, “Let me make it very clear that there are two people who have been arrested and the other one escaped police at that location. Currently those suspects are in police custody pending for further dealings."

Ms Matanga says, “Even though the situations seem tense when it comes to arrest, we do it lawfully. This is to make it fair and will be presented to court for fair trial. So my officers will have to do things within the bound law.”

She Matanga says,

“I am calling on my good people, especially children and families who are involved in the looting and burning of buildings to stop from that kind of activity.

This will not help anymore.”

“Think about the future of our children. What we do now will have its impact on our country. This is our own town and we should take ownership of it. I appreciate West Honiara communities and Naha for helping the police,” says Ms Matanga.
