Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Auki have arrested a 30-year-old male suspect for alleged murder of a 30-year male person on 7 February 2024 in West Kwaio.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Superintendent Leslie Kili said, “The deceased and the suspect were drinking beer together after selling their timber in Auki and returned home on 6 February 2024.”

PPC Kili said, “They were drinking alcohol together until the early hours between 1am to 5am on 07 February 2024. At that time an argument happened between the suspect and the deceased at Gwale village, near a canteen situated close to the public road.”

Superintendent Kili said, “The villagers woke up because of the noise of the argument, went to see what happened and saw the deceased was lying dead on the main road.”

“A case file has been opened for further investigation for the offence of murder. The suspect was arrested and remanded. He will appear in court on a later date,” said PPC Kili.
