A 36-year-old male person arrested for attempted murder in Western Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police (RSIPF) in Western Province have arrested a 36-year-old male person for attempted murder at Pusisama village in Vella la Vella Island, on 22 April 2024.

The arrest was made after the 36-year-old suspect allegedly struck a victim in his 20s with a 40 inch knife made out of chainsaw steel blade.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Mathias Lenialu says, “The victim sustained two huge wounds behind his neck and his arm. The victim’s condition is stable.

PPC Lenialu says,

“The motive behind this allegation is still yet to be determined and police in Gizo are still investigating the matter.”

Chief Superintendent Lenialu says, “Before the incident occurred the accused had an argument with one of his drinking mates for his credit and later when they went to the village the accused had an argument with another person in the village that night.”

Mr. Lenialu says, “The suspect also had an argument with his wife when they were on their way to the suspect village and this is where the accused cut the victim with a knife."
