Royal Solomon Islands Police (RSIPF) officers in Taro, Choiseul Province, are cracking down on illegal liquor selling in the province.

On Friday 19th August, Taro police served suspension letters to four liquor licensees and four other people who are illegally selling liquor in their premises.

The liquor licensees and illegal sellers who were served with letters breached sections of the Choiseul Province Liquor Authority’s Liquor Act.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Central Police Station re-arrested four suspects in relation to a murder incident at Vara Creek recently.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Police, Chief Superintendent Jimson Robo said the four suspects arrested previously for grievous harm incident after medical authorities pronounced the death of a 53-year-old male person, police have to re-arrest the four suspects and deal with them.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) arrested four adult male suspects for dynamite fishing in North West Guadalcanal at Paru Village on 8 August 2022.

Commissioner of RSIPF Mr Mostyn Mangau said the arrest was done after the EOD team received information from the community and when the team arrived at the location the four suspects just arrived from dynamite fishing.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Kirakira, Makia-Ulawa Province, are investigating a rape incident that occurs at West Makira on 26 July 2022.

RSIPF Commissioner Mr Mostyn said the incident happens at a village in West Makira which involved a male person, in his 40s, who allegedly had sexual intercourse with two girls aged 10 and 11 without their consent.

Commissioner said the matter was reported to the police and his officers responded to the report and arrested the suspect.

Commissioner Mnagau said the report on the paper on the alleged arrest of the two government ministers and a top official to face an arrest within days which is published on the paper is not true and totally misleading.

Deputy Team Leader (DTL), also Chief Instructor of China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) Mr Yin Wei has highlighted that it is better to teach a man to fish than to give him a fish.

The Chief Instructor was referring to a saying in China which reflects it in the context of training provided by CPLT to the officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) for the past months, he mentioned this when speaking at a farewell dinner in Honiara on Sunday 31July 2022.

The Commissioner of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Mr Mostyn Mangau has made a first provincial visit to Central Province after lifting the State of Public Emergency recently.

The Commissioner made the visit to officers who work at Tulagi and Yandina Police Station in the Russell Islands on 8 July 2022.

During the visit, Commissioner Mangau presented a certificate of appreciation to some officers at Tulagi during a parade and conducted a muster with officers.

The Chairman Banika House of Chief Mr John Tenten told the Commissioner of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) Mr Mostyn Mangau that Yandina Police are unable to discharge their duties due to no vehicle.

The Chair of Banika House of Chief highlighted the matter during a day trip by the Commissioner of RSIPF to Yandina on 8 July 2022.

Mr Tenten said, in terms of sea mobility it is okay. Our police officers still do their duties by boat to other parts of Russell Islands but land mobility is becoming a concern for Yandina officers to do their work.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team will conduct a live demolition of bombs at Hells Point, in the Alligator Creek area East of Honiara on Wednesday 06 July 2022.

Officer In-charge (OIC) of EOD, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “The Hells Point Demolition Range in Central Guadalcanal will be active from 8am to 2pm (06 July 2022).”
