Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Henderson Police Station are investigating the death of a 27-year-old male person whose body was found at New Zealand camp area this morning.

The deceased sustained some injuries on his left leg and a cut at the bottom of his ear. Deceased also had blood running out from his nose when discovered by police.

Police allegedly believed that the killing may have occurred at a different location and the deceased was then dropped off at the location where he was later discovered at the New Zealand Camp area.

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) would like to clarify an article published in the media with the title ‘Overturned of Police Request’.

RSIPF did send a request to the Speaker of Parliament seeking permission for the RSIPF and Solomon International Assistance Force (SIAF) officers on operation to carry arms, which are part of their uniform on the parliament precinct.

Fourteen officers from Police Response Team (PRT) and Operational Safety Training (OST) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have completed the first Public Order Management (POM) training conducted by China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) on 25 March 2022 at Rove Police Headquarters.

During the two weeks training beginning from 14 March 2022, RSIPF officers have received the training on drill, unarmed combat skills, advanced usage of long sticks, round shields, tactical batons, T-shape baton, handcuffs, basic rifle tactics and crowd control.

Buin Police in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville have arrested 23 suspects from Solomon Islands who crossed the border between Solomon Islands (SI) and Papua New Guinea over the weekend.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu said on 26 March 2022 first five suspects were handed over at the redline by Buin Police to RSIPF border officers.

Commissioner of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Mr Mostyn Mangau would like to clarify that RSIPF is an independent organisation which not taking directives from the Democratic Coalition Government for Advancement (DCGA) as mentioned by Mr Knoxly Atu on Solomon Star newspaper published on 20 March 2022.

Commissioner Mangau says, “I am not taking directives from the government as mentioned by Mr Atu. Police involvement in the arrest of Mr Atu is not attached to any directives from the DCGA.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) would like to clarify to the public that there is no secret gun shipment coming into the country on-board a logging vessel as reported by Alfred Sasako on Solomon Star issue number 8081, dated on 10 March 2022.

Commissioner of the RSIPF Mr Mostyn Mangau made this statement after an investigation was conducted by RSIPF into this particular media information.

The Police Response Team (PRT) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) executed a covert operation at 5am on Thursday 17 March 2022 at Bethel Village, East Fataleka, Malaita Province to arrest Noxley ATU (suspect) who has evaded police arrest in numerous occasions for his involvement in the recent unrest (riot and looting) in Honiara on the month of November 2021.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) receives UXO support funding after a deal signed between the Japanese Government this afternoon (15 March 2022) in Honiara.

Officer In-charge (OIC) of the EOD team, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “This support package of more than US seven hundred thousand dollars will boost the capability of the EOD Teams and help them to keep our citizens safe from risk posed by the World War II remnant.”
