A police officer of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) who had an accident with a police-marked vehicle has been arrested and placed in police custody today (22 November 2025).

RSIPF Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Operation Mr Mathias Lenialu said the accident has occurred further up from the Sape clinic at Guadalcanal Plain Palm Oil Limited (GPPOL I) area in north Guadalcanal.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officially launched the country’s first Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for drug testing of suspects at Rove police headquarters on 20 November 2025.

The launching of the SOP marks a significant milestone in strengthening the nation’s capacity to combat rising drug-related crime.

As the first standardized document in the Solomon Islands that guides drug testing on human samples, the SOP represents a crucial step toward professionalizing and modernizing the country’s anti-drugs enforcement.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), with support from the RSIPF and AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP), has successfully completed a five-week Close Personal Protection (CPP) Train-the-Trainer (TOT) program.

The training has strengthened the skills, professionalism, and teaching abilities of RSIPF CPP instructors.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Aviation Unit has strengthened its operational capability with the addition of a second All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV), generously provided through the RSIPF and AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP).

The new ATV enhances the unit’s ability to patrol, respond, and maintain safety across the challenging airside environment of Honiara International Airport. It complements the first ATV gifted prior to PIF25, enabling the Aviation Unit to operate more efficiently during busy periods and special operations.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department (EODD) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has removed a 226 kg bomb from the newly proposed Taro township recently.

Supervising Director EODD, Staff Sergeant (SSgt) Peter Ririvere, said the bomb has been removed to a safe location, waiting for the next operation for safe demolition.

Supervising Director EODD Mr Ririvere said this is the third similar bomb that has been found on the same location in the Taro new township for this year alone.

Police Support Units (PSUs) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) from Honiara City, Guadalcanal Police and Close Personal Protection officers have begun a three-week intensive training program on less lethal capabilities in Honiara.

The three-week training began with an official opening programme at Rove police headquarters on 17 November 2025 and will be closed on 5 December 2025.

The purpose of this training is to enhance PSU's less lethal capability—an essential component of modern policing to support frontline policing to deal with tense situations.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force and Australian Federal Police Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP) have donated sporting gear to Ghaobata Football Club and Brisolona Futsal Academy in Honiara as part of their ongoing commitment to youth development, community engagement, and crime prevention through positive activities. The donation included a combination of RAPPP-branded merchandise and additional sports gear generously provided by Sandringham Football Club in Australia, reflecting a shared dedication to supporting young people through sport.

Three Police Constables (PCs) from Auki Police in Malaita Province were promoted to the rank of Sergeant (Sgt) over the weekend.

These officers were promoted on the basis of merit-based performance management processes and recommendations from their Provincial Police Commander (PPC).

Police Constable Billy Lui, who works as a frontline officer; Jean Wawane, who works as an officer in charge of the domestic violence unit; and Corrine Kuibae, who works at the traffic unit in Auki.

Tulagi police have arrested two suspects in their 20s for rocking the Siota school principal's house on 8 November 2025.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Superintendent David Soakai, said it was alleged that the two suspects entered the school during lunch hour under the influence of liquor and committed the offence.

PPC Soakai said the suspects first entered the school kitchen in an aggressive manner and ate the student’s lunch without their permission and later went to the principal’s house.

Tulagi police have arrested a couple for assaulting a 13-year-old girl with a bamboo stem at Toa village in small Ngella, Central Province, on 11 November 2025.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Superintendent David Soakai, said the victim with other friends after church activity was heading back home following a bush road; on their way, they climbed up a betel nut tree, and suddenly the couple attacked the victim.
