Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Gizo Police Station in the Western Province have arrested seven suspects for alleged malicious damage and assault at the Kuava logging camp on Vella La Vella Island on 11 November 2020.
It is alleged that the suspects entered the camp site and allegedly damaged properties owned by the logging company operating the logging camp and allegedly assaulted some company employees at the camp site.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) appeals to the people of Central Honiara and North East Guadalcanal constituencies for a peaceful by-election this Wednesday 18 November 2020.
The by-election in both national constituencies have become necessary after the Members of Parliament lost their seats in election petitions after the National General Election April 2019.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) National Response Department (NRD) and Fire & Rescue has graduated 86 officers as specialist operators today (13 November 2020) at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara.
The specialist operators who graduated included:
• 20 Close Personal Protection (CPP) officers - 17 male and three female;
• 35 Police Response Team (PRT) officers - 33 male and two female;
• 17 Fire and Rescue officers - 12 male and five female officers; and

The Indonesian registered vessel, the Metro Teratari that had entered Solomon Islands waters through the country’s Western Province last week without the permission of the rightful authorities has now left the country.
Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Commissioner Mostyn Mangau says, “This has been confirmed by the Director of the Solomon Islands Maritime Authority (SIMA). Government authorities advised the vessel’s local agent to inform the ship’s captain to return to its port of origin.”
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal (RSIPF EOD) team will be conducting bomb-blasting tasks in the Shortland Islands, Western Province from Monday 16 November 2020 to Saturday 28 November 2020.
The tasks will be carried out in the areas of Tuha, Nila, Kulitanai, Koliai and Ghaomae on Alu Island and Kariki on Fauro Island between 9 am to 4pm on the respective dates.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team will conduct a live demolition of bombs at Hells Point, in the Alligator Creek East of Honiara tomorrow Friday 13 January 2020.
Officer In-charge (OIC) of EOD, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “The Hells Point Demolition Range in Central Guadalcanal area will be active from 8 am to 12 midday, 12 November 2020.”
Traffic officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested a police officer for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol in Honiara on 7 November 2020.
Director National Traffic Department, Superintendent Fredrick Satu says, “A RBT test was carried out on the police officer and the level of alcohol present in his blood at that time was 0.136%. This was very high and that he should not have been driving. Traffic officers arrested him for presence of alcohol in his blood.”
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force, (RSIPF) National Traffic Department recorded 18 traffic incidences during the period 30 October to 5 November 2020 in Honiara compared to the previous week when only 10 cases were reported.
Complainants reported three of the cases while officers of the National Traffic Department reported 15 cases.
Members of the public living in coastal communities in the Western, Choiseul, Isabel, Malaita and Renbel Provinces have been advised to look out for an Indonesian registered vessel the Metro Teratari that has entered Solomon Islands territorial waters through the western border with Papua New Guinea without the approval of the authorities.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Ian Vaevaso says, “The vessel had applied to the Solomon Islands Government’s COVID-19 Oversight Committee to enter the country but no approval was granted.
A total of nine officers from the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have graduated with the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) International Mine Action Standard level one training course today (6 November 2020) at Hells Point, East of Honiara.
RSIPF Assistant Commissioner (AC) National Operations, Evelyn Thugea, the Australian Defence Force Attaché to the South West Pacific Commander Mark Northcote and EOD Officers were present at the graduation ceremony.
