Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Gizo police station have arrested a 38-year-old male teacher for the allegation of rape on 27 September 2024.

Gizo police have arrested the suspect after he raped a 17-year-old girl on three different occasion at the suspect’s house in Kolobangara island on the month of January 2024.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Superintendent Wilken Miriki said, “The suspect threatened the victim not to tell anyone about what he did to her until the victim got pregnant.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Harapa police station have arrested and charged a 33-year-old male person for attacking his 15-year-old nephew with a bush knife in Shortland islands last week.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Superintendent Wilken Miriki says, “It is alleged that on the day of the incident, the suspect invited his nephew to his house.”

PPC Miriki says, “The victim walked into the house with no sense of being in danger. As he entered the house, he saw his uncle armed with a bush knife.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Auki police station raided beer outlets and kwaso (homebrew) during a snap operation on 26 September 2024.

During the snap operation police have checked five illegal beer outlets in West Kwara’ae and confiscated a good number of carton beers. The police raid includes seven Kwaso producers with their sales person.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Chief Superintendent Tex Tafoa said, “A total of 60 bottle kwaso and 20 cartons of beer has been confiscated during the snap operation.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Malu’u police station have arrested and charged a male suspect in his 20s for the allegation of rape on 25 September 2024.

The suspect was arrested after he raped a 16-year-old girl at Kwailabesi area in North Malaita on 12 September 2024.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Chief Superintendent Tex Tafoa said, “The suspect was brought to Auki police station and dealt with.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Auki police station have arrested a 21-year-old male suspect for a grievous harm incident at Kilufii area on 27 September 2024.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Chief Superintendent Tex Tafoa said, “The suspect was arrested after several police attempts but he escaped.”

PPC Tafoa said, “It was alleged that the suspect assaulted the 16-year-old girl on 5 September 2024 at Kilufii area.”

New Zealand Police under the Solomon Islands Police Support Program (SIPSP) alongside Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) Provincial Training Officer (PTO) returned to Makira Province to deliver Crime Prevention Strategy (CPS), Mindset and Family Violence training.

The training allowed the officers to enhance skills learnt from previous training and to apply practical crime prevention strategies to issues they face within their communities.

Taro Police in Choiseul Province have arrested seven suspects for brewing kwaso (homebrew) at Poroporo village in Northwest Choiseul recently.

The arrest came about when information was received that a group of youths engaged in making kwaso.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Choiseul Province, Superintendent Berry Pogesopa said, “This has raised great concern from the villagers as more anti-social activities were happening in the village.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Buala have arrested a 49-year-old father for raping his own daughter in a village on Isabel province.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Isabel Province, Inspector Harry Vanosi said, “It was alleged the father have been raping his own daughter on different times and strongly warn her not tell anyone about what he did to her.”

PPC Vanosi said, “Because of fear the victim kept it secret till she got pregnant, and she admitted to her grandmother the actual story of what happened to her.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Buala have arrested 11 suspects for different offenses committed during an investigation operation to Gao/Bugotu constituency recently.

The 11 suspects have been arrested and charged for restriction on making liquor contrary to section 50 (2) (c) of the liquor act, house breaking and committing felony to section 300 of the penal code and criminal trespass contrary to section 189 of the penal code.

Ten (10) Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers become the first to complete a Crime and Intelligence workshop aimed at strengthening the fight against serious and organised crimes.

The workshop, which ended at the Rove police headquarters on 24 September, is part of a larger series that will enhance the skills of RSIPF officers in conducting high quality investigations and preparation of evidence briefs.
