RSIPF Deputy Commissioner meets with Central Province PEOC

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Deputy Commissioner Operation Juanita Matanga met with officers of the Central Province Emergency Operation Centre (PEOC) about their preparation in the case of an outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) during her visit to Tulagi on 15 May 2020.

During the meeting held at the Tulagi Police Station, Provincial Secretary, Central Province Chris Siale introduced the PEOC as established and can call on officers of the health sector, the police, local council and volunteers to assist it perform its role.

RSIPF to enforce full lock down in Emergency Zone Poha to Alligator Creek

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) appeals to all the good citizens living within the Emergency Zone from Poha, west of Honiara to Alligator Creek east of Honiara to observe the full lockdown which is being planned for 6pm on Wednesday 20 May 2020 to 6 am Friday 22 May 2020.

“This is going to be a 36-hour lockdown. It will NOT be an exercise as an Order will be issued making it law. Officers of the RSIPF will arrest anyone who contravene the Order which is expected to be gazetted this week,” says Acting Commissioner of Police, Mostyn Mangau.

RSIPF deputy commissioner meets with women in Central Province

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Deputy Commissioner Operation Juanita Matanga met with members of the Central Province Council of Woman in Tulagi on 15 May 2020 to re- emphasize the role of the RSIPF during the preparations for any outbreak of the coronavirus(COVID-19) in Solomon Islands.

As part of its COVID -19 Operation Plan to assist the Government’s efforts to prevent any outbreak of the virus in Solomon Islands, RSIPF is assisting the Ministry of Health and Medical Services in conducting nation-wide awareness programs on the virus in all provinces.

Central Provincial Government committed to working closely with RSIPF

The Central Provincial Government is committed to working closely with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in terms of infrastructure, the Crime Prevention Strategy and other programs.

The Central Province Premier, Hon. Stanley Manetiva made the commitment during the visit of the RSIPF Deputy Commissioner, Operations, Juanita Matanga to the provincial capital Tulagi on 15 May 2020.

Deputy Commissioner RSIPF visits officers in Central Province

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Deputy Commissioner Operation Juanita Matanga visited officers at the Tulagi Police Station in the Central Province on 15 May 2020 to discuss the Station’s preparations for the coronavirus (COVID-19) and issues of discipline.
Officers at the Tulagi Police Station welcomed DC Matanga with a parade on her arrival.

During a muster with the officers, DC Matanga highlighted key messages to equip police officers with relevant information on the COVID-19 should there be any outbreak of the virus in the country

RSIPF officers deployed to western border undergo health check for NCDs

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) deployed to the common border between Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea have undergone basic health checks for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) at the Kulitanai Police Station conducted by Solomon Islands Medical Assistance Team (SOLMAT) on 17 May 2020.

RSIPF records further increase in traffic incidences in Honiara

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force, (RSIPF) National Traffic Department have recorded a total of 49 traffic incidences in the period 1 to 7 May 2020 in Honiara compared to the previous week when only a total of 23 cases were reported, an increase of 26 cases

Two cases were reported by complainants and 47 were reported by officers at the National Traffic Department in Honiara.

The total of 49 incidences included:

23 cases for presence of alcohol in person’s blood;

5 each for using uninsured motor vehicle and using unlicensed motor vehicle;

Celebrate responsibly during mother’s day

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) appeals to the good citizens of this country to celebrate mother's day responsibly.

Acting Commissioner of Police Mostyn Mangau says, “The RSIPF COVID-19 Operation is still on and so there will be a good number police officers out on the streets to ensure that they enforce the law during the mother’s day celebrations."

RSIPF checks 200 vehicles as part of traffic operation in Honiara

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) National Traffic Department checked 200 vehicles last night (8 May 2020) during an operation in front of the Honiara City Central Police Station.

Director of the National Traffic Department Superintendent Fredrick Satu says, “Eight motor vehicles were impounded for presence of alcohol in the driver's blood and two motor vehicles for being unlicensed.”

RSIPF commends communities in North Malaita for handing over murder suspect

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) has thanked the communities of Afo’a and Gwaiau in North Malaita for their cooperation with police at Auki and Malu’u resulting in the successful arrest of a 17-year-old male murder suspect on 7 May 2020.

This followed the death of the suspect’s seven-month pregnant wife on 20 April 2020 after the couple had a row at their home at Afo’a. The suspect has been on the run from the police since the incident.
