The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) has re-bailed 44 people who breached the curfew order under the State of Public Emergency which was enforced from 10 - 11 April in Honiara.

A total of 63 suspects were arrested during the two nights of curfew and later the Honiara Magistrates’ Court released 58 of the suspects.

Acting Commissioner of RSIPF Mostyn Mangau says, “The 44 suspects have been re-bailed by the National Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) and the Honiara City Criminal Investigation Department to appear in court on 13 May 2020.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the Henderson Police Station are investigating an alleged attempted armed robbery incident which occurred at the Galego Resource Company Bahomea logging camp in Central Guadalcanal on 2 May 2020

It is alleged that a group of men entered the logging camp and fired gunshots and attempted to rob the Asians working at the camp site.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the Henderson Police Station are investigating a fatal accident involving a RAV4 vehicle which resulted in the death of a 30-year-old male person in the Henderson area East of Honiara on 4 May 2020.

The incident occurred at the eastern end of the Honiara International Airport runaway.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the National Traffic Centre have charged the driver and the owner of a bus involved in a traffic accident in Honiara 4 May 2020.

The accident happened opposite the Wesley United Church in central Honiara when the bus ran into the centre traffic barrier after one of its tyres flew off. There were six passengers on board including children. One of the passengers was injured and taken to the National Referral Hospital for treatment and discharged.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the Tulagi Police Station in Central Province, the Health and Environmental Division and Community Governance and Grieves Management project participated in a-two day awareness talk on COVID-19 preparedness at Tulagi from Thursday 31 April to Friday 1 May 2020.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander Central Province Inspector Hugo Maelasi says, “About 100 participants from the Russell Islands, Savo and Ngella attended the workshop which was coordinated by the Health and Environment Division in Tulagi.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the National Traffic Centre are investigating a traffic accident which involves a white Toyota bus opposite the Wesley United church in Honiara on 3 May 2020.

Director of the National Traffic Department Superintendent Fredrick Satu says, “The bus was travelling in the Eastly direction with six passengers including children on-board when the front right tyre of the vehicle flew out just after passing the Honiara Central Market.”

Officers of the National Traffic Department of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have impounded 30 vehicles during a traffic and RBT check near the Kukum Traffic Station as part of the Covid 19 Operation Order on 1 May and 2 May 2020.

During the first check on the night of 1 May 2020, a total of 16 vehicles were impounded which included 12 vehicles impounded for presence of alcohol in drivers' blood, two for unlicensed motor vehicle and two vehicles impounded for unlicensed driver."
