As part of its COVID -19 Operation Plan to assist the Government’s efforts to prevent any outbreak of the coronavirus in Solomon Islands, RSIPF officers from the Tulagi Police Station with officers from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services and the Central Provincial Environmental Department have recently completed awareness meetings in 25 communities in the Russell Islands.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City, Chief Superintendent Stanley Riolo says the amount of money mentioned in the media recently to have been recovered so far as a result of the investigation into Onelink Pacifica is misleading and incorrect.
PPC Riolo says, “Following the article in the Solomon Star on 25 April quoting a representative of the Onelink Pacifica a number of enquiries were made and it has been established that the amount of money quoted in the article was wrong.”
The capability of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in the Western border region will be boosted after receiving a high speed craft donated by the Government of Australia through the Australian High Commission Office in Honiara today (29 April 2020).
The handover ceremony was conducted at the RSIPF Maritime Aola base in Honiara in the presence of the Minister for Police, National Security and Correctional Services, Hon. Anthony Veke. MP.

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) reminds everyone to remain safe whilst accessing the internet as there are many COVID-19 online scams operating worldwide. Some are from websites that advertise fake vaccines and cures, or some operating fraudulent COVID-19 charity drives.
RSIPF Cyber Safety Trainer Sergeant Noel Tahnimare says, “I am encouraging all Solomon Islanders to remain vigilant against the threat of cybercrime, as we need to look out for ourselves, our family and friends so that we can all stay safe whilst online.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the Auki Police Station in Malaita Province together with officers at Maka Police Post are investigating an alleged arson incident at Tawaro Village on Small Malaita on 26 April 2020.
Supervising Provincial Police Commander Malaita Province Superintendent William Foufaka says, “An initial report received by police say the dwelling house was burned down by a group of around ten boys at Tawaro Village.”
Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Auki Police Station in Malaita Province have arrested nine suspects following an alleged arson and malicious damage incident at Masupa Village in East Are’are on 19 April 2020.
The nine suspects includes two female and seven male. It is alleged the suspects killed one live pig, burned one kitchen house and one semi-permanent dwelling house.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) appeals to the suspect in an alleged murder incident at Gwaiau Village in North Malaita on 20 April 2020 to surrender himself to police.
This follows the death of a pregnant woman, who is the wife of the suspect in the alleged incident.
Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province Superintendent William Foufaka says, “It is alleged the incident happened after the couple had a row at their home. Investigation into this sad incident is continuing to establish how the woman died.”
The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) has farewelled Solomon Islands Police Development Program (SIPDP) Advisor Andrew Mitchells with the presentation of a certificate of appreciation during a brief ceremony at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara.
The certificate of appreciation was presented in recognition of Advisor Mitchell commitment and contribution to capacity development within the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force during his service under SIPDP to the RSIPF from January 2018 to April 2020.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Taro are investigating two alleged unlawful wounding incidents which happened at two different villages on Wagina Island in Choiseul Province during the past few days.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Choiseul Province Superintendent Vincent Eria says, “The first incident happened at Arariki Village on 18 April 2020, and the second incident happened on 20 April 2020 at Nikumaroro Village.”
