A 20-year-old male person raped a 16-year-old girl at Kwailabesi area in North Malaita, Malaita Province recently.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Inspector Michael Ramosaea says, “The 20-year-old male person is a crew for a public transport provider for the Northern Malaita road.”

Supervising PPC Ramosaea says, “The victim dropped off at around 7pm on the main road and walked along the bush track to her home village. The victim was on her way home when the horrific incident occurred.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Buala in Isabel Province have arrested a male suspect on 12 September 2024 for damaging an excavator.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Isabel Province, Inspector Harry Vanosi said, “The incident of damage to the excavator has occurred at Maglau village.”

PPC Vanosi said, “It was alleged that the suspect went and broke the brass pipes of the excavator and took them back to his house. A total of 17 thousand dollars plus damage incurred by the suspect on the machine.”

A high-level delegation visited the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department (EODD) in East Honiara and later flew to Munda in Western Province on 12 September 2024.

The delegation includes the RSIPF Assistant Commissioner Provincial Mathias Lenialu, Australian High Commissioner Rod Hilton, Acting Honourable Minister for Police and Correctional Services Trevor Hedley Mahaga, and the Australian Defence Force (ADF) Advisor Justin Bywater.

Police in Auki have arrested and charged two male suspects, aged 46 and 37, in relation to a burglary incident that occurred in Auki, Malaita Province, on 17 July 2024.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province Chief Superintendent Tex Tafoa says, “Suspects entered a C-Corps cocoa buying shed near the Auki main market and removed four 100 kg bags of dried cocoa beans worth $20,000.”

The Minister of Police, National Security and Correctional Services (MPNSCS), Hon. Jimson Tanangada today (16Septem 2024) opened the one-week conference of the Provincial Police Commanders and departmental directors of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara.

The Conference is being attended by all Provincial Police Commanders from all the provinces and Honiara City, and departmental directors from the RSIPF Headquarters in Rove. The PPCs and Directors conference will close on 20 September 2024.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Noro have arrested and charged a 36-year-old male person on 6 September 2024 for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl.

It was alleged that the suspect rape the girl in different times between 2021 and 2023. The first rape incident has occurred when the aunty of the victim went to Honiara.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Superintendent Wilken Miriki said, “The rape case was reported to police on 25 August 2024 and currently investigation into the rape incident is ongoing.”

Thirty-seven officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) are farewelled during a parade at Rove police headquarters in Honiara today 12 September 2024.

Out of that thirty-seven retired police officers thirty-two are male officers and 5 female officers. Most of the female retired officers from the provinces while only one from Rove police headquarters.

The retired police officers in the provinces their Provincial Police Commanders (PPC) will organise a similar program for them in their provincial level.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Western Province have arrested a 39-year-old father on 5 September 2024 for allegedly raping his own 12-year-old daughter.

It was alleged that the father rapes his daughter in 2022 when she was 10-year-old while she has been attending grade three.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Superintendent Wilken Miriki said, “The defendant continues to rape her in 2023 until on the month July 2024 then the matter was reported to police.”

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) EODD is working closely with the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and international partners on Operation Render Safe 2024 IN Western Province.

This operation has been the most successful ever with more than 3000 bombs already removed from the communities.

Director EODD Inspector Tunuki said, “Those UXOs destroyed were collected from Munda, Noro and surrounding communities in New Georgia Island. And other communities around Kohingo at Ringi and Teme on Kolombangara island.”

Police in Auki have arrested two suspects for a wounding incident at Coral village in West Kwarae, Malaita Province on 8 September 2024.

Frontline shift officers have responded to a report which involved two suspects in their forties attacking a 34-year-old male person for unknown reason.

It was alleged that one of two suspects did strike the victim with a weapon which landed on his back causing serious wounds on right and left arms.
