The National Crime Prevention Department (NCPD) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF), together with the China Police Liaison Team (CPLT), has launched the Fighter One community for the construction of the Solomon Island (SI)-China Police Cooperation Model Communities recently.

CPLT member Superintendent Zhangpeng said the SI-China Police Cooperation Model Community is a community-building activity jointly carried out by RSIPF and CPLT.

The Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) is ready to respond swiftly and effectively to any situation that may arise before, during, or after the Pacific Island Forum Leaders Meeting next week.

RSIPF Deputy Commissioner (DC) National Security and Operation Support (NSOS) highlighted last Friday, 29 August 2025, in his welcome remark by saying that today marks an important milestone for the RSIPF as we come together to witness the capabilities and professionalism of the RSIPF SWAT unit of our police force.

The Police Response Department (PRD) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) over the weekend conducted a route march as part of preparations for the Pacific Island Forum Leaders (PIFL) meeting.

The route march has started at Ranandi roundabout all the way to Honiara City Council (HCC), and the teams break up into different teams, and they conduct foot beat patrol to different crime hot spots in Honiara city, which include Honiara Central Market.

The Magistrate Court from Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court has sentenced two youths in their 20s for stealing about ten thousand dollars from a victim at Sepi village in Isabel province during a court circuit in Buala recently.

Two young men, ages 18 and 19, have been sentenced for the offense of simple larceny contrary to section 261 (1) of the penal code and pled guilty for the offense committed.

Visiting Magistrate to Buala court circuit recently from Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a 20-year-old male person to one year imprisonment for striking a victim with an axe during a fundraising program at Sisiga village, Kokota ward, in Isabel province.

Investigation reveals to the court that the victim was on his way to the fundraising venue when the offender approached him and asked for marijuana. The victim replied that he doesn’t smoke marijuana, and the offender walked away.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has further enhanced its maritime capability with the official handover of a new Aluminium Long Boat (ALB) Striker fast craft recently.

The ceremony was led by RSIPF Maritime Commander, Superintendent Nevol Soko, alongside an Australian Defence Force (ADF) advisor, and attended by the Provincial Police Commanders (PPCs) for Western and Choiseul Provinces as well as the Team Leader of the Police Response Department (PRD) Western Border Operations.

The Police Response Department (PRD) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF), with support from the RSIPF-Australian Federal Police (AFP) Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP), enhances its capability in Public Order Management (POM) demonstration at Hells Point and Tenaru firing base on 22 August 2025.

The capability demonstration is part of the operational readiness for the upcoming Pacific Islands Forum Leaders (PIFL) meeting in Honiara next month.

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) has strengthened its traffic policing capability with a two-day Random Breath Testing (RBT) workshop at the National Traffic Department (NTD) in Kukum from 7 to 8 August 2025.

The training is part of preparations to ensure safe roads during the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders’ Meeting next month.

Officers from the NTD and Guadalcanal Province’s Henderson Police Station completed the program, which was jointly facilitated by the RSIPF and the AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP).

Taro police have arrested thirteen suspects for disputing the installation of a telecommunication tower at Susuka village in east Choiseul.

It was alleged the suspects, who dispute the location of a telecommunication tower, approached members of the community who are working on the project, threatened them, and ordered them to stop working due to a dispute over the land.

The motive behind the incident is a long-standing land dispute between two parties over the location of the telecommunication tower.

Officers from the Royal Solomon Island Police (RSIPF) at Naha Police Station, together with members of the RSIPF & AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP), visited the Matariu and Guaimaoa communities in west Kola Ridge on Thursday, 7 August.

The visit was an important time for police and community leaders to come together, share concerns, and talk openly about ways to keep the community safe.

Discussions also covered preparations for the upcoming Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting, which will bring many visitors to Honiara and the wider Solomon Islands.
