Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Munda Western Province have arrested and charged seven accused for attacking a male person and his son at Kokeqolo on 28 September 2019.

The incident occurred after it was alleged that the victim’s daughter swore at one of the suspect’s niece at a school.

Officer Commanding Station (OCS), Munda Police Station, Sergeant Rachel Lilo says, “It is alleged that in the early hours of 28 September 2019, the victim was asleep in his home when a group of people arrived in two vehicles at the victim’s residence.”

Young people in Honiara and the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have discussed how to work more closely together as partners to ensure the youth have a safe future.

This came during a Youth Forum coordinated by the RSIPF at the Multi-purpose Hall at Lawson Tama in Central Honiara today (30 September 2019). It was attended by about 100 youth from across Honiara and senior officers of the RSIPF.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have farewelled Ms Toni Christmas, a Solomon Islands Police Development Program (SIPDP) advisor to the National Criminal Investigation Department at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara on 26 September 2019.
A farewell morning tea was organised with the presentation of certificate of appreciation and an RSIPF International Law Enforcement Cooperation Medal to Ms Christmas by the Commissioner of Police, Matthew Varley.

“I refer to the front page articles published yesterday, Tuesday 24th September 2019, in the Solomon Star and Island Sun newspapers alleging that unnamed Members of Parliament offered a bribe to the Premier of Malaita. Province, Hon. Daniel Suidani.

Knowing the seriousness of these allegations, I immediately sent a letter to the Hon. Premier yesterday, 24th September, requesting him to meet with my officers and provide a report to police.

Today, 25th September I sent a senior RSIPF investigations team to Auki, led by the Assistant Commissioner of Crime & Intelligence.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) are continuing with their public awareness talks in Honiara as part of the ‘Operation High Visibility’ which started after the Solomon Islands Government made the decision to switch diplomatic relations from the Republic of China (ROC) to the People’s Republic of China (PRC) on 16 September 2019.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Tulagi, Central Province have arrested three suspects during an operation which started during the weekend at the provincial capital.

Two of the suspects were arrested for allegedly consuming liquor in a public place and the other one was arrested for alleged domestic violence. All suspects charged will appear during the Tulagi Court circuit this week.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) commends the good behaviour of the citizens of Honiara and throughout the rest of the country over the past several days and urges people to continue with such behaviour.

“Generally the situation has been calm and peaceful in Honiara and the rest of the country since the decision by the Government to switch diplomatic recognition of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) from the Republic of China (ROC) early this week,” says Assistant Commissioner of Police, National Capital and Crime Prevention, Simpson Pogeava.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) calls on members of the public in Gizo Western Province to respect law and order during the visit of cruise ship to the provincial capital tomorrow (18 September 2019).

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says, “The cruise ship, Ma’asdam Holland America, carrying about a thousand tourists, will arrive at Gizo in the morning with activities planned for the visitors at various parts of the town.”
