Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Auki in the Malaita Province have arrested a 15-year-old male for the alleged rape of a 9-year–old girl at Zion Village in Central Kwara’ae on 13 August 2019.

Operation Manager at the Auki Police Station, Inspector Charles Koto says, “The arrest was done by my officers not long after the incident occurred on 13 August 2019. The suspect is now in police custody as investigation into the alleged incident continues.”

Kwaso is illegal. It affects the health of people who consume the home brew and it causes social problems including violence in families and the community at large.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is issuing the warning as it continues to roll out the Kwaso Action Plan throughout the provinces with stakeholders including the National and Provincial Governments, the private sector, the justice sector, the youth sector, Crime Prevention Councils, non-government organisations, councils of chiefs, civil organisations.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Honiara have started an operation to ensure under age youth are not allowed to enter public bars and night clubs within the capital city.

This follows the abduction of a 14-year-old girl from one of the public bars in Honiara last month. A man has been arrested and charged.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has discussed further areas of cooperation with the United States Government during meetings held in Honiara last week.

RSIPF Commissioner Matthew Varley and his Executive as well as the Supervising Minister of Police, National Security and Correctional Services of Solomon Islands, Christopher Laore and Supervising Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Police, Mactus Forau met with a high level delegation of the US Government at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara on 8 August 2019.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested a 47-year-old man last week in relation to the death of a 19-year-old girl in a logging Camp at Jericho, North New Georgia, Western Province.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) of Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu explains: “The death of the 19-year-old happened last month on 11 July 2019, which the body of the deceased was discovered inside her room on the morning of that day.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) serving the Guadalcanal Province (GP) have arrested and charged four suspects during a one-week operation targeting the use of illegal alcohol and drugs in Central, East and North East Guadalcanal on 25 July to 3 August 2019.

The suspects were arrested and charged for the offence of restriction of making liquor contrary to section 50 (2) of the Liquor Act and will appear before the Honiara Magistrates’ Court on 26th August 2019.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Temotu Province are investigating a vehicle accident at Nea Village on 31 July 2019 when a three-ton truck over turned after it experienced a mechanical problem.

It is alleged the vehicle with 20 passengers on board experienced a problem with its engine as it was driving up a small hill. The vehicle then rolled back and turned over. Six of the passengers were injured and taken to hospital for treatment

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is continuing its investigation into the burning of two buildings at Tigoa, in West Rennell on the night of 25 July 2019

Commissioner of Police, Matthew Varley told local journalists who attended his weekly conference today: “A team of police investigators, officers of the Forensic department, and the Fire and Rescue Service in Honiara, who were deployed to Tigoa to assist my officers there with the investigation of the arson incident have returned to Honiara.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Temotu Province last weekend arrested a male person in his 20s for allegedly producing homebrew at Malo Village on Santa Cruz Islands in the Temotu Province.

The arrest was conducted following a tip off from an informant that led the RSIPF officers at Lata to apprehend the youth for allegedly distilling the homebrew at one residence at Malo Village.”
