The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and Solomon Islands Post Conflict Rehabilitation and Restoration Association (SIPCRRA) Executive members call on people of Malaita who reside in Honiara to respect the result of the election of a new Prime Minister (PM) on 24 April 2019.

The call has been made following a meeting between the RSIPF and SIPCRRA Executive members at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara today (22 April 2019).

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) reminds the general public in Honiara City and Guadalcanal Province, that the Caretaker Minister of Home Affairs, Ishmael Avui has signed a new liquor ban order to be enforced from 23 - 25 April 2019.

The new Liquor Ban Order (N0.3) 2019, which was signed on 18 April by the Caretaker Minister for Home Affairs, is made under section 82 (1) of the Liquor Act (cap 144).

More than 700 officers from all departments of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) are being deployed under ‘Operation Prime Minister Election 2019’ to provide security at the National Parliament Building and other parts of Honiara for the election of the Prime Minister this Wednesday 24 April 2019.

Investigators from the National Criminal Investigation Department of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) with Forensic and Information Technology officers conducted a search for suspicious drugs at a premises located in the Kukum area of Central Honiara on 21 April 2019.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) for Crime and Intelligence, Ian Vaevaso says, “The combined team had seized some items suspected that will assist in the police investigation. A man and his wife were interviewed and released as investigation continues,” says AC Vaevaso.

Police have arrested an adult male person in the Henderson area East of Honiara for allegedly being in possession of alleged drugs and alcohol for sale on19 April 2019.

Guadalcanal Provincial Police Operational (Ops) Manager, Superintendent Nixson Manetoga says, “The man was seen by police operational officers who were on patrol during night around 2:00 Am of 19 April 2019, walking alongside the Henderson main road with a suspicious bag.”

Police have arrested seven people at Moto Pool in the Henderson area of Central Guadalcanal for alleged drunk and disorderly and brewing of kwaso on the night of 17 April 2019.

Duty Commander at the Guadalcanal Provincial Police Forward Command Post, Superintendent Nixson Manetoga says, “On the night (17 April) officers of my Police Respond Unit (PRU) attended to a report and arrested six adult males for allegedly drunk and disorderly behaviour.”

The Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai is happy so far with the security situation in that Province as police starts an Easter Operation to ensure law and order is maintained during the long weekend.

PPC Sitai says, “My officers are continuing with the Police Easter Festivity Operation this week, and from assessment collected so far, there has been no major incidents, which is a good sign.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) appeals to church congregations in and around Honiara to help maintain peace in the lead up to the election of a new Prime Minister on 24 April 2019.

RSIPF’s Inspector James Maelanga told the congregation at the Anglican St Alban Parish in West Honiara: “Your police needs you, especially members of the various church congregations in Honiara, to maintain a peaceful environment in Honiara as the 50 newly elected Members of Parliament elect a new Prime Minister (PM).”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Munda Police Station in Western Province arrested a 40-year-old male person who allegedly swore at a couple at Londumaho Village, Munda on 17 April 2019.

Officer Commanding Munda Police Station Sergeant Rachel Lilo says, “My officers arrested the man after we received a report that alleged the man swore at a couple at Londumaho Village on 17 April 2019.”
