Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested three men following a raid for brewing kwaso at Namoruka, West Honiara on 6 April 2019.
Items collected during the raid included 1x44 galloon bin, 6x 7 galloon black buckets, 13x 5 galloon white jerry cans, and 2 x 4 galloon jerry cans used in the kwaso fermenting process.
Three suspects were arrested and are currently in police custody for further dealings and items seized are kept as exhibits for court.
Deputy Commissioner Police (DCP) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Gabriel Manelusi who is responsible for Operations says the Combined Task Group (CTG) comprising of the Australian and New Zealand Defence Forces has greatly improved the communications assets of the RSIPF.
“I greatly appreciate the work of personnel from the CTG in assisting the RSIPF to improve radio communications between police stations across Solomon Islands ahead of the National General Election (NGE),” says DCP Manelusi.

Traffic officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested five vehicle drivers during a traffic operation conducted opposite the St. John Community High School in West Honiara today (5 April 2019).
Deputy Director, Kukum Traffic, Inspector Brian Surimalefo says, “The vehicle drivers were arrested and warned for prosecution for; driving unlicensed motor vehicle, permitting unlicensed motor vehicle, permitting unlicensed driver and driving without a valid driver’s license.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force, (RSIPF) have raided a Bottle shop at Ngamubulou in the Reef Islands, Temotu Province in the early hours of 2 April 2019 and confiscated 117 cartons of beer.
Officers from Lata Police Station and those deployed from Honiara for National General Election duties conducted the raid after members of the community alleged the Bottle shop owner was selling beer without a valid license.
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) are investigating the alleged attack on a 30-year-old woman in the Nguvia area on the Guadalcanal Plains on 3 April 2019.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) for Guadalcanal Provincial, Chief Superintendent Evelyn Thugea says, “My officers are investigating the alleged attack which happened on 3 April 2019 at the Nguvia area in North Guadalcanal.”
PPC Thugea adds: “A case is being registered for this report for police investigation.”
Police in Auki, Malaita Province have arrested five male persons for allegations of consumption of liquor in a public place on 4 April 2019 in Auki.
Chief Superintendent Alfred Uiga, who is the overall commander for the NGE in Malaita Province says, “This morning Police in Auki received a report from members of the public that there were some male persons drinking kwaso at the Auki Market.”
“Upon receiving the report Police responded and arrested five male persons aged between 20 to 25 years-old and currently they are in Police custody for further dealings.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Police Operation Centre (POC) for the National General Election (NGE) has received some reports involving intimidation for some parts of the country whilst the polling day was peaceful throughout the country on 3 April 2019.
The incidents are reported to have happened after some members of the public cast their votes. Police are currently investigating some of the allegations of intimidation.
Commissioner of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) today (3 April 2019) visited several polling stations in Honiara to meet and talk with members of the public to ensure they felt safe and secure while casting their ballots.
Commissioner Varley was welcomed by smiles and greetings from the members of the public.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) will take stern action against anyone who organises or participates in any float parade on our roads either in Honiara or the provinces or on our seas to celebrate any winning candidate in the National General Election (NGE).
“We will not approve any requests from anyone who wants to organise any float parades in Honiara or in the provinces or at sea as the country awaits the results of the National Election today,” says RSIPF Commissioner Matthew Varley.
