Malaita Province Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Inspector Peter Kinita is pleased with support of chiefs and various community leaders that make the work of police easier during the festive seasons.

Supervising PPC Kinita says, “So far the Christmas and New Year 2019 festivity have been very good in Malaita Province unlike the previous festivity in 2017-2018 a death at the Auki Travellers Motel.”

Police in Temotu Province arrest five people for separate cases: Intimidation of another person to Wilful Damage of properties, over the period since 27 December 2018 – 2 January 2019.

Temotu Province Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Superintendent James Toaki says, My officers at Lata Police Station on 27 December 2018 arrested a male person who was allegedly threatening his wife with a bush knife, and on 31 December 2018 further arrest was made where another male person for swearing and intimidating his brother with a bow and arrow.”

A report from Wagina was received by police in Choiseul Province on 2 January 2019, about 4 -5 Pm a male victim was brought to the Wagina Rural Health Clinic as a result of allegedly stabbing wound of twice at the back of him with the alleged knife.

It was alleged the victim lost heavily blood from his wounds, and at this stage police could not establish the motive of the stabbing.

The police tried to contact Wagina but the telecommunication to receive the phone call could not reached, may allegedly due to bad weather.

Police and people around Seghe searching for three missing people outside Seghe in Marovo lagoon after their boat capsize with eight people on board on 31 December 2018.

The Out Boat Motor (OBM) engine travel from Noro to Seghe with 8 people on board during the bad weather experienced across the country.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialau says, “The boat capsize when they meet up with rough sea just outside of Seghe in Marovo Lagoon.”
