Police at Taro in Choiseul Province arrested a 26-year-old male suspect for raping a 16-year-old girl at Ghaghara sea side in North East Choiseul on 8 December 2018.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Choiseul Province, Superintendent Vincent Eria says, “It is another sad rape incident occurred again in Choiseul Province. To make it worst the suspect of this rape incident is a close relative of the victim. The suspect supposed to be the one who should take care of the victim instead he raped her.”

Police at Gizo in Western Province arrested, charged and remanded a 27-year-old suspect for alleged store break-in at Lengana Village on Simbo Island in Western Province on the 4 December 2018.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Mathias Lenialu says, “It was alleged that the accused went inside the victim’s family home and intent to steal. He climb up lander steps and tries to open the main door but it was locked. He broke the window removed the glasses and unlocked door from inside.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) conduct Sea Safety campaign which started on the 1 December 2018 and will be finish on the month of January 2019.

Commissioner of Police Mr Matthew Varley during his weekly Media Conference says, “Sea Safety campaign is continuing. The campaign is led by Solomon Island Maritime Authority and supported by the Police Maritime, Honiara City and our Provincial Police.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) commend members of the public for good behaviour during the Carols in the Islands event on the 15 December 2018 at Lawson Tama Stadium.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City, Chief Superintendent Stanley Riolo says, “It was a successful police operation and I would like to thanked members of the general public for the good behaviour displayed during Carols in the Islands event.”

Police in the Western Province have commended community leaders and two police officers on annual leave for arrest of three suspects for disturbances at Dovele Vellavella on the 16 December 2018 and handed the suspects to Gizo Police Station.

On the 16 December 2018 community leaders with support of the two police officers who were on annual leave arrested three suspects for consuming home brew, causing disturbances and manufacturing illegal home brew.

Community leaders of Savulei ward in Guadalcanal Province have benefited from a Crime Prevention Workshop conducted at Verahue village in West Guadalcanal on 14 December 2018.

This is the third training conducted in Guadalcanal Province after police established Community Crime Prevention Committee (CPC) in the Provinces last year.

Among the 40 participants there are 28 males and 12 females who participated during the training.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) today (14 December 2018) arrested the current Minister for Forestry and Research and Member of Parliament (MP) for Gao/Bugotu Constituency in Isabel Province and charged him in relation to an alleged misappropriation of Government funds.

Police will allege that on 25 December 2014, the MP converted $100,000.00 of Constituency Development Funds granted to the Gao/Bugotu Constituency by the Solomon Islands Government for the benefit of himself and others by using those funds to pay for a private Christmas party.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is calling for the full cooperation of the public in Honiara intending to attend the Carols in the Islands event this Saturday 15 December 2018.

“Police in Honiara City will be mounting an operation during the event including visibility patrols in and outside of the venue at the Lawson Tama Football Stadium and assisting the flow of traffic going to and leaving the venue,” says Provincial Police Commander, Honiara City, Chief Superintendent Stanley Riolo.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) calls for more discussions on issues affecting youth in the country as another suicide incident involving a 20-year-old male person is reported to have happened at the Sun Valley area East of Honiara on 10 December 2018.

Police at the Henderson Police Station also attended to an attempted suicide incident involving another youth also on the same day at the Zome Enterprises Yard at Henderson.
