Two suspects that have been arrested by Auki police recently were fined $200.00 each with a default of 20 days imprisonment in Auki Magistrates’ Court.

Magistrate Max Haniel gave the decision on 25 July 2025 after the duo was arrested and charged by Auki police for consuming alcohol in a moving vehicle.

The prosecutor presented the case before Magistrate Haniel, and he applauded the police for the good work. Such small offenses occurred on a regular basis and are now taken seriously and reported.

Police in Honiara will again start a Zero Tolerance Operation in the capital as of tomorrow (31 July 2025) to ensure members of the public are safe during the weekends.

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) Commissioner Mr. Mangau says, “We started this operation last weekend with great success. Twelve suspects have been arrested for different offenses, while drivers were arrested for drinking and driving.”

Commissioner Mangau says, “Fourteen vehicles have been detained for expired licenses, and five drivers were arrested for unlicensed driving.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department (EODD) will conduct a live demolition of bombs at Hells Point, in the Alligator Creek area East of Honiara on 30th July 2025.

Supervising Director of EOD Department, Senior Sergeant Ansa Puaraua says, “The Hells Point Demolition Range in Central Guadalcanal will be active from 8am to 2pm (30th July 2025)

“The general public in and around Alligator Creek and Tenaru School are kindly warned to keep out from Hells Point while the Operation is in progress.

Auki police have arrested a 20-year-old male suspect for assaulting a 20-year-old male victim at the Faasitoro Heights area in Auki on 25 July 2025.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) of Malaita Province, Superintendent Michael Romosaea, said it was alleged that the suspect was not happy with the victim following a previous argument.

PPC Ramosaea said when he saw the victim walk towards his uncle’s residence, the suspect moved towards the victim and punched him in his face, and the victim sustained an injury.

The forensics officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) underwent a two-day workshop on chemical development of fingerprints in Honiara recently.

The workshop was coordinated by RSIPF Forensic Training Officer (FTO), Sergeant (Sgt) Minnie Leigh, with support from the Australian Federal Police (AFP) through the RSIPF and AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP), which is a long-term partner for the RSIPF forensics.

The Police Academy of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) was boosted with new office equipment recently.

The academy received a welcome boost in workplace amenities with the delivery of new office equipment with the funding through a Pacific Community Law Enforcement Cooperation (PCLEC) Small Grants Program (SGP).

The upgrade includes two refrigerators and twenty ergonomic office chairs, now in use by Learning and Development staff and trainers at the Academy.

The Community Policing Unit (CPU) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in the Kirakira police station recently visited Ulawa Island from 7 to 11 July 2025.

Team Leader (TL), CPU, Makira-Ulawa Province, Sergeant (Sgt) Audrey Suhata, said the visit was purposely to strengthen communities and to inform them on the current status of the Crime Prevention Strategy (CPS) in the province and the standardization idea of the custom by-laws.

Police in Malu’u have arrested a 45-year-old father for allegedly raping his 6-year-old daughter recently at a village in north Malaita.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) of Malaita Province, Superintendent Michael Ramosaea, said the alleged rape incident occurred several times between 2020 and 2022 when the victim was in grade four.

PPC Rmosaea said the relatives of the little girl reported the matter to police for arrest and investigation, and the victim was taken to the Care Center in Auki for counseling.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) would like to remind good citizens to be mindful not to bring any dangerous or prohibited items during the Solomon Cup 2025 (SC25) final at the National Stadium.

Forward Commander (FC) SC25 Chief Superintendent Jimson Robo said, “Police will heavily check for dangerous weapons like axes, scissors, broken glasses, screwdrivers, kitchen knives, and slings at the entry gate to the game venue.

Members of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and Local Engaged Contractors (LECs) from the RSIPF & AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP) recently visited Tetere Police Station.

The visit was to recognize the hard-working police officers and the ongoing support they receive from their families.

The program designed by RAPPP’s Health Wellbeing & Community Engagement (HWCE) Team is based on their successful community engagement program.
