The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) successfully defused a unexploded ordnance (UXO) in the Stream Valley residential area at Tasahe B in West Honiara on 21 September 2018.

The EOD conducted the Render Safe Procedure (RSP) between 8:00am to 11:00am this morning (21 September 2018) including an evacuation of the people within the area of operation.

A female Police officer of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has been awarded a ‘highly commended’ award in the Excellence in Law Enforcement in the Asia Pacific Region by the Australasian Council of Women and Policing Awards.

The award was presented to Police Constable Annette Mepirke in front of her colleagues during the Commissioner’s weekly parade this morning (20 September 2018).

Police in Central Province have arrested a 15-year-old juvenile on an allegation of rape that occurred on 11 September 2018 at the Bona settlement area near Burungia Village, Small Gela.

Provincial Police Commander Central Province, Superintendent Patricia Leta says, “It was alleged that in the early evening of 11 September 2018 the victim’s father sent her to Ghumba Village to get money for betel- nuts she left at her uncle’s house in the morning for sale.”

Officers from the National Community Policing Department of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have successfully conducted a workshop with 20 youth in the Naha 1 community in East Honiara on 15 September 2018.

This workshop was based on the Crime Prevention Strategy and SARA model.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Tulagi Police Station in Central Province today (17 September 2018) welcomed the Most Reverend Archbishop, George Takeli of the Anglican Church of Melanesia during his visit to the provincial capital.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Superintendent Patricia Leta says, “During his visit Archbishop Takeli told the officers that police is one of the most important organizations in the country because of the pastoral role that it plays in the country.”

Police in Western Province is investigating a report of an alleged armed robbery at a logging camp in one of the islands in the Shortlands over the weekend.

It is alleged that around 3 pm on 15 September 2018 two boats powered by 40 horsepower engines, carrying around ten people arrived at Sanai logging camp, Shortland Islands and robbed the employees of the Synergy Brisk Solomon Island logging company.

Maluu Poilce in Malaita Province arrested and charged a 23-year-old male person for alleged stealing a set of Solar panel at Gaomae village in North Malaita on 13 September 2018.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Superintendent Timothy Apaesi says, “Police Maluu attend to the report on 14 September 2018 and on their arrival at the village where the accused lived he was alerted and then he escaped.”

Police at Yandina in the Central Province continue with its community awareness with a talk held at the Havuna Community High School on 13 September 2018

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Superintendent Patricia Leta says, “The messages delivered during the awareness talk included law and order, three sources of law, and anti-social behaviour relating to kwaso.

At the end of the presentation, Woman Police Constable Marion Tuhenua donated a sport kit to the School Principal, Brian Vaka.

Police at Tulagi in the Central Province have arrested and charged a 27-year-old man for alleged assault causing bodily harm following an incident which occurred at Soka Village, Sand-fly on the evening of 10 September 2018.

It is alleged that the 27-year-old suspect and his brothers were consuming alcohol at their home at Vatutaria Village not far from Soka Village when the suspect disappeared. His brothers thought that he left for Soka Village so they shouted after him to return.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) on 16 September witnessed a reconciliation ceremony between parties involved in the fatal accident in Honiara on15 September during which a 15-year-old girl died after collision with a vehicle.

The reconciliation was held at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara.
